The same rumours Pixeltwin was discussing on the previous page of the thread appear to have surfaced in The Sun today.

Personally I wouldn't mind seeing John Simm back as the Master but I'm not sure how they're gonna go about it with his body being burnt at the end of Last Of The Timelords. That said I'm not really happy they're bringing Donna back, don't get me wrong I liked Donna, but I feel it's way too soon to have her return to the show a year after her memory was wiped and she was meant to never ever ever be able to remember the adventures she had. Plus the return of Rose was kind of pointless and ruined the brilliant ending to Doomsday in 2006 and I don't want them to make the same mistake with Donna. If Catherine isn't coming back on board full time, why undo the series four finale for one episode? Of course if they're only showing her in flashback or something it might be different, but I still can't see the point

Well to be fair
seeing the master as a burnt corpse isn't anything new. Thats basically what he was in The Deadly Assassin and The Keeper of Trakken. There is one thing we know. The Master is a coward. I don't think he would kill himself just to spite the Doctor. So we know he had a backup plan. By the way it has been revealed that Harriet Jones was the one who picked up the Master's ring at the end of Last of the Time Lords.

I can't wait for the specials to start up. :blissy

It is confirmed by all sources. Even the ones that don't agree about
Paul McGann
agree that it is 100%. It was supposed to be part of the Series 4 finale but they decided it needed to be expanded upon in its own special.

Might have to check out the TV movie if Paul McGann is coming back (haven't seen any of Classic Who, pre Eccleston era). It's a shame they couldn't get Eccleston back as well, then they could have done the Time War. There again in Rose it appeared that Eccleston had just regenerated, given that line he spoke about his ears when he looked in the mirror. So maybe McGann was the Doctor that fought in the Time War and destroyed the Daleks and this special will be all told in flashback. Seeing the Time War on screen has been something Brendan and I have wanted for ages but RTD said they could never film the Time War. Still how many things has RTD said he was never gonna do and it's turned out he's been lying to the fans just to stir up controversy. He was never gonna do an episode with The Master at first. He's a very mischievous person.

There are rumors that
Chris is coming back
but I am slow to believe that.
Though he has been sighted sporting the cropped hair style he wore as the Doctor last week.
But I think that would be too good to be true.

:dunno

So Harriet may come back in flashbacks then if she's the one that took the Masters ring. I dunno I sorta liked her still coming to the Doctors aid in a way. Her coming back as the tool of the Master or as the Rani would ruin that for me. Also I pray Donna does not come back as post-Journey's End Donna because that was the best exit ever I think. On the issue of McGann coming back, I'm pleased. The thing about his regeneration though, I think that Eight regenerated into Nine at the end of the war and when he saw the destruction as Nine (still in Eights clothes) that he started trying to save people hence the Titanic picture in Rose. I really cannot wait for these specials though. Is it Christmas time yet?!

And Marc, who do we have to threaten to get our Spoiler Torchwood thread over here? :lol

I think Donna was, by far, the best companion of the new series because by the end you see a fantastic amount of growth and maturity and then to see that all taken away is just heart wrenching. Whoever the next full time assistant (which is what they should go back to, assistant) is going to have a helluva time living up to her. Which is actually why the break I think is going to work so well. We will have a full year to move away from Donna so we are ready for someone new. Man, I wish i had the time to stay over at DWF and read the stuff all day and night because I needs my Who fix. Have I missed any other major spoilers or bits of news? And pix, love the new avatar. The Stolen Earth set with the old Dalek I presume?

yeah that was fantastic. When series 4 started I hated Donna. By the end I felt exactly like you. BEST COMPANION EVER.

What I love most is the fact that I knew she'd be great all along just from what RTD planned in Runaway Bride, even in that hour we saw the start of a change and I knew that wouldn't be the end of Donna growing. Pre series 4 her best scene for me was the realization of her place in the universe when she and the Doctor see the Earth formed, post series 4 it's easily her farewell in the TARDIS because everything after that was just so sad. Rose changed.. but not like Donna and Martha didn't really change at all. She was always confident and strong so the Doctor really didn't need to make her better at all. With Donna though.. *sigh* I really wish we could have had more Donna without losing Journey's End.
And if she comes back I fear it will not be good at all. If it's worked in as sometime during series 4 then fine, or some kind of wibbley wobley timey wimey thing, but do not cheapen Donna (DoctorDonna)'s exit

Same here, it surprised me how much i liked her. I think its the same for alot of people, espeacially after what she was like in the Caterine Tate show.

McGann movie was on TV last week, i really liked whati saw, did'nt get to see all of it.
I always thought that inside the tardi should be like a cathedral and they kinda did have that sort of design and the way the 2 doctor were dressed i really liked a bit like the first doctors. Edwardian Holmes style outfits. Intro was very similar to the current series would be cool to see McGann back, McCoy still looks good enough to coe back after seeing in a doctor who confidentsial.

Great avatar by the way, Pixletwin. Daleks and Abbey road, whats not to like.

I completely agree. The S4 finale totally ruined the poetry of Doomsday for me and added absolutely nothing to Rose.

The thing about his regeneration though, I think that Eight regenerated into Nine at the end of the war and when he saw the destruction as Nine (still in Eights clothes) that he started trying to save people hence the Titanic picture in Rose.

The Titanic picture has never sat right with the way "Rose" is clearly meant to be immediately after a regeneration. I love your idea that what we saw was the Doctor materializing on Earth right after destroying Gallifrey and the Daleks and trying to help the first people he ran into and then tracking down the Autons a few hours later and running into Rose.

I would hope McGann gets a big part and Chris comes back, but I don't believe the latter for a minute. All's not lost though - they can pretty easily use some computer trickery to show him regenerate into Chris and then edit in the original trailer footage of him running from the fireball.

Although a full on "Three Doctors" episode would be amazing.

in Rose he was still definitely acting erratically as if the regeneration was fresh. But I don't see how that conflicts. He definitely was at the titanic and other places before Rose. (I know some people like to argue that he went to those places in between where Rose declined to join him, he goes away, and then comes back to tell her "did I mention that it can travel in time"... but I think that is a stretch.)

As do I. It makes far more sense, and by his style of dress as well, that he would have survivors guilt and try to save as many people as he could. I mean WHY would he be in that suit if it was between when Rose said no and he came back and she said yes.

Not just that but we see in The Unquiet dead that Nine didn't care about blending into any time period. Even in the same period of dress as we see him in that photograph, when he is with Rose and she is dressed for the time he basically says "why would I want to do that?" when she asks him why he doesn't dress up.

I guess it just stretches credulity the longer he goes before looking at himself in a mirror. And in the scene in Rose's apartment he's clearly exploring to see what skills his new persona has (the card sequence). I can probably buy a very brief stop but a lifespan longer than a few hours is pushing it.
