The only thing about rogue one that doesn't jive well for me with a New Hope is Vader. He was too badass in rogue one in comparison to the new hope Vader, which was slow (obi wan duel) and less ruthless. The rogue one vader would have diced Leia up and force smashed her remains against the roof of the ship, rather then talk with her, let alone put her in a cell when she wouldn't speak about the death star plans he knew she had. I don't see rogue one Vader caring one bit that she was a diplomat...

ANH Vader was always ruthless though. He asked Captain Antilles a question and then prevented him from answering by snapping his neck midsentence.

He also choked Motti longer than Krennic and only stopped because Tarkin demanded it.

Still doesn't explain his behavior with Leia, it just doesn't jive for me. Before rogue one though his behavior seemed normal, I could believe he retrained himself because she was a political diplomat. Rogue one vader was a killing machine, kill first ask questions later, I don't buy the restraint at all. Its a small nickpick but definitely something Disney sacrificed in terms of continuity of character to give us that badass scene in rogue one.. it was probably worth it though... I loved that scene

But that was my point about Captain Antilles. He literally killed him before he could answer the question. :D But then a few seconds later he gathered himself and interrogated Leia.

I'm not saying that the scenes across the two movies have to sync up for you, just pointing out a couple aspects that I thought were worth considering. :duff

See that's the thing. Jyn is cool like R5-D4. One and done. :) She'll never become lame or a joke in another movie now. If only Ripley, Marion, Trinity, Selene, etc., could have been so lucky.

Jyn's on the short list of cool chicks with Leia, Sarah Connor and Pfeiffer Catwoman who all got to be awesome and stay awesome (knock on wood that Leia makes it through TLJ unscathed. )

Holy crap I jinxed Sarah Connor. Unbelievable.

Yeah I can't help but wonder now too. :lol

I bet that if Pfeiffer came back she'd find a way to stay cool though. But Hamilton in some goofy passing of the baton Terminator movie by the director of Deadpool with a script by David Goyer? It's not looking good for her. Hopefully she doesn't wander near any tornadoes.

"No John leave me, save Wolfie--I mean Max--ahhhhh!" *dies*

I told you -- they'll all ruin their 'cool' status by doing their "best of"...

Everyone does their 'Return to Gilligan's Island'... unless they die. Harsh way to remain cool forever... but its the only way.

There was nothing cool about this:

Or Rogue One, for that matter.

Fun fact "for me." :lol Yeah probably, lol.

However I am impressed by your attention to detail

BUT mostly alarmed (as our Felicity's people lol)

Hey I wasn't *that* stalkery. She was standing for photos so it was easy to see her entire outfit. Plus those heels were the only reason she was taller than my shoulder, lol.

:lol

With regard to the topic of the thread the one place that RO and SW are out of sync the most for me are with regard to the Death Star itself. In SW it's pretty obvious that the DS has never been fired before.

"Until this battle station is fully operational, we are vulnerable."

"This station is now the ultimate power in the universe; I suggest we use it..."

"The final checkout is complete. All systems are operational..."

Now I did think that RO was pretty clever in how it danced around the semantics of "fully operational" by suggesting that it was only with regard to possibly secondary defensive systems that weren't fully online and that "I suggest we use it" actually meant "use it to openly destroy a planet instead of a city or base" BUT watching SW after RO it's still obvious that what Lucas was implying throughout the film was that the DS hadn't fired a single shot prior to Alderaan.

Do I care? Not really. Why? Because RO is awesome enough that I don't need to obsess over every little continuity detail. Just like I don't obsess over Wedge being played by two different actors just minutes apart or John Ratzenberger's voice changing from one scene to the next in Echo Base. Same with the "twins" plot twist not syncing up with what Yoda said as Luke left Dagobah in ESB. So when I watch RO I just hand wave away that little inconsistency as inconsequential semantics.

All I ask when watching a sequel or prequel is to either match up perfectly to previous films OR...have the inconsistencies so small that I don't notice or the movie so awesome that I don't care.

What bugs me more is that the first Death Star took 19 years to build and the second only four.

Unless construction started on it four years after the first...

(Yes, I know the second was incomplete but it was still "fully armed and operational"!)
