hammer sez regards.

Yikes, for such a stylish movie, the box cover is kinda 'meh'.

Maybe the pink text didn't 'test' well, haha.

What's the appeal to this movie? I watched it, and didn't see anything that made it so awesome. And also, for it to be titled "Drive", there really wasn't too much of any driving going on with the exception of a lame car chase that added up to be about 2 minutes.

wofford said it already.:lecture
I think some people aren't seeing past the literal definition of the word Drive when seeing this movie. The words other meanings are just as applicable to the character of the film as the physical act of driving a car.

It's funny you say that considering a good majority of the movie he's talked about as being the greatest driver ever. I guess it can take on other meanings, but it would just seem logical for it to have something to do with his driving skills.
I still don't get the appeal though....

Nicolas Winding Refn Says He Hasn’t Ruled Out a DRIVE Sequel

While most of us are still reeling from the fact that Drive, one of the best films of the year, nabbed a grand total of one Oscar nominations (for Best Sound Editing, no less), director Nicolas Winding Refn seems undeterred. The Danish filmmaker is hard at work on his follow-up, the Thailand-set Only God Forgives starring Ryan Gosling, and he seems keen on using his newfound success to further (pardon the pun) drive his career forward. The director recently gave a brief interview in which he was asked about the possibility of a sequel to Drive. While I all but expected the director to outright state that he has no intention of continuing Driver’s story.

As you may or may not know, Drive was based on the novel of the same name by author James Sallis. While it deviated quite a bit from the source material, Refn’s film used many of the same situations and overarching plot from Sallis’ novel. The author recently announced that he would be releasing a sequel to Drive, called Driven, this April. When asked in an interview with ShortList (via The Playlist) whether or not he had any plans to adapt the sequel, Refn responded thusly: “Well I think that… hmm. Let me just say that I haven’t made up my mind yet. Stranger things have happened…”

The plot of Driven takes place six years after the events of the first book, and centers on someone wanting Driver dead (obviously). I’m not entirely sure Refn’s film begs for a follow-up, but I can’t say I wouldn’t relish the thought of returning to that universe once again with Refn at the helm and Gosling behind the steering wheel.

I got the UK Steelbook which is pretty cool, but I am still looking forward to the Queen Edition

Director was quoted last year saying this

“The version that is released now, like soon, is fairly standard,” Refn revealed. “It does not include any audio commentaries with either Ryan [Gosling] or myself, and it does not include any secret, revealing elements, or mysteries solved, or a huge amount of spinoffs. [But] because I’m a Blu-ray fanatic – no, fanatic, like religiously – I hope that in the near future, I will be able to release a movie that’s not just a movie, but also one that describes the process of the filmmaking, and answers some of the more mysterious elements of the success of that it has achieved.”

Retrospective featurettes typically seem most interesting only years after a film is released, when audiences and critics, and even the filmmakers themselves, have had an opportunity to honestly assess its artistic and commercial merits. But Refn said he’s confident he and star Ryan Gosling will be able to provide some deeper perspectives, much less production details, about the conception and execution of “Drive.”

“I think it will be fun to sometime next year to just start thinking about putting it all together,” he said of the potential timeline. “By then it has played itself through in all of the countries in the world, and all of the various Blu-ray editions have been released. So that would be the time to make, what I would say would be the ‘Queen’ version. That’s what is in the plan for Ryan and I.”

For those who have not bought the amazing soundtrack yet

Ugh, a sequel should not be made at all....Drive is one of those movies that should not be into sequels, prequels, etc.

They will only pervert the original and end up ruining it :gah:
