So couldn't be bothered reading through over 200 posts but found this interesting as i was in Hong Kong a few days ago, and i picked this figure up and it has the transparent sheet underneath the shirt, its been about 4 days know and everything is fine but i will give it a few weeks to see if it stays ok, but still an awesome figure.
I can see it being worse from being boxed up. I remember reading on OSW people were noticing that their Medicom figures were deteriorating faster when boxed up and some people that have Sideshow's 1/6 Epis3 Anakin had the pleather peeling off when being boxed up too long.
The thing is though there is no plastic in the DX boxes. It's foam. The reason why it was bad to leave it in the box was the oil was drenched over the kevlar plates sitting. Weeks had past until the decal got so soft it lifted away from the surface.
The box would make no difference in this case, whether it be out of the box or in it, if you don't maintain this oil it wrecks itself. How was I suppose to know the oil would damage the figure. What I know now I wish I done this from the very beginning. Then it would never have blistered. As we know it should never have been oozing to begin with. Yet Hot Toys tells us it wont ruin your collectible experience.
The problem is numbers. If people could boycott HT over this knowing thousands of people would join them and a real message would be sent, I think they'd do it, but the problem is, there's no way to guarantee it, so for the lone person wanting to make the move, the situation they're faced with is this:
If you boycott HT as a single buyer, chances are high that all you will accomplish is that you as a collector will be without other nice HT figures and Hot Toys will continue to make money.
Unless you can attack HT in great numbers, the only one you'll punish is yourself. If you're so committed to the principal and would rather never have other nice figures they make just to make a point about your dissappointment over this Batman, you can, but if you hope to hurt HT, it won't happen, you'd need 50% or more of their customer base to boycott for them to feel worried, and you'll NEVER get that, so unfortunately, HT is in perfect position to smile to your face and stick it in your back when you're not looking, they have all the power. As collectors, all we can do is make choices for ourselves on how to proceed, but there's little we can do to make serious change.

It doesn't have to take a complete boycott to encourage change. Hot Toys doesn't have to be faced with bankruptcy before they take CS issues seriously - all they have to do is be smart enough to realize a dip in sales and profits is attributable to their poor behavior.
The idea that any individual boycotting would be pointless because there are so many who don't care is ludicrous. Every lost sale (now and in the the extended future) is measurable and has an effect.

Now that they've gotten away with it, they can do it again in the future.
You sound like you're ok for companies to screw people and it's acceptable. Just follow the sheep.
I don't want or have any intentions to attack Hot Toys, I just want what's morally right. My replacement and I'll pipe down. The sad thing is it's because of most of these gullible collectors (world wide) a lot of us suffer. While others smirk behind the scenes because they waited, in between kissing Hot Toys feet as if this never happened because they choose to ignore this. That just makes it all ok in their book. Or maybe it's ok for others just to allow $200 collectibles to burn. Just get another one and that makes it ok. More money than sense then.
I'm not, all I'm saying is, the way this market it is, what is out there to make customers feel that if they boycott buying from HT, it'll have an affect on HT that'll make them rethink their practices. As I've said before, I don't see any reason for a person to think it'll make a difference. In this market, I know quite well, if I don't buy it, someone is standing behind me in line that is willing to do, so my giving up on something only denies it for me, HT's got people waiting to take my spot at buying their product. For the most part, there are more people after HT products than there are production numbers, so if people boycott, someone else steps in and HT feels nothing.
No, HT doesn't have to go bankrupt to get the hint, but right now, there aren't enough sales hits to make them feel they can't pull shady moves like they have with this Batman, it would take significant numbers to send that message and I just don't see how you could ever get those numbers together to make that point.

Well we are not in a union so I certainly don't want anyone to loose out on HT goodies by converting them to boycott HT. Boycotting HT would be most effective IF we can actually create a measurable impact but yeah that ain't going to happen and what I am thinking of.
I am simply hoping that this time maybe we can stir up enough ____ en par with the DX02 peeling, warped heads and IMBD RDJ HS that will force them much like in those cases to come forward admit to the problem & resolution. I believe much like in those instances that only a few very "vocal" posters will be enough just we have been too wellbehaved to easily being ignored. Not sure if I can ever lower myself to a point to swear online and rip them to pieces but as I have said many time that seems to be the only thing that works with HT and sometimes you got to do what you got to do. If HT rejects my request I will do just that. Not like HT will be able to ban me from buying more figures

I'd have thought all the reaction in February, even March would have been enough to get that, that was part of the frustration, John Connor, the flaking and warping issues on Batman, and Iron Man portrait issues were addressed within about a month or less of them coming to light. The oil seemed to, and now has, gone on months with no official address by them. It seems like if a figure has one issue that nags the collectors, they'll step up, but if it becomes a ongoing problem like this Batman, after the first issue they just want to move on and forget about the figure at hand.
Yes but you have to agree all of the posts with regards to the oil have been "civilized" and easily ignored aparently.
We are just nowhere near the level the HK collectors were at. Reason why HT was responding was that there was potential of this fear and actual hate in these posts to spill over into actual sales loss. We were never even near that level

Heared people claiming this oil works as the protection of the batman's tights, preventing them from blistering. When the oil is totally gone, the tight will start to break just like te medicom Darth Vader. Also, posing him to oftenly will accelerate the deterioration. There's no doubt that hottoy's quality has always been a question. My friend just got his t-800 with a right arm in the place of left arm lol. Another got his figure with the fingers on the mechanic arms totally loose,easily fell off when taken out of the box.
Well that's HT's fault, if a company is more willing to hear the comments of rude and hostile people than those willing to present thoughtful and considerate arguments, that's their call. You shouldn't have to be an _______ to get attention. If I owned HT, I'd have done something to tell people like that the equivalent of ____ off and treated people who actually take time to make kind comments with the proper attention and respect they showed me. Respect is give and take, that's what annoyed me about when I tried to contact them direct myself, I was pissed but I still wrote to them as politely as I could.

You may not get the figure resolved but I think not getting the figure fixed and knowing you were the better person is a better feeling than getting a good figure and knowing you had to be a ____ to make it happen.

Thats why in any form of contact, email, business or clients I'll never get down into the nitty gritty. Polite, firm and to the point.
Up until now Hot Toys is the first company thats never responded to me and I'm not about to start going down the route of cursing or threatening emails.
I was originally going to attempt the Facebook route with pictures but as others have proven with Iron Man it had gotten them nowhere.
Did you ever notice S/A is always at the bottom of Hot Toys customer service emails? do you know what that is?
I am just worried because we were respectful that this behaviour from HT will become the norm.
I am a true believer in addressing problems calm and maturely and I have been very successful doing do. But there are times in my real life where I have purposely broken that when nothing else has worked and sadly it worked then just as well There are sometimes just _______s out there that do not deserve our respect and require a beating down

I don't know what the S/A, maybe the department abbreviation.
As for the Facebook, I can't even remember, I posted photos of mine at least twice, but I never even got that please contact our CS repsones, I just got response from a couple fans and then nothing. Facebook isn't a very good place to try and get attention though, unless everyone happens to be on board for the same complaints, people are bound to push your topic out of the way, something Iron Man I believe was a big topic of discussion once the oilly figures started shipping and that's what most people at FB wanted to discuss. If they ever had a different FB page for each license, it might be more effective. HT's also shown they don't want to be othered on FB when they switched default view to just their own comments.
