Has your DX02 shown signs of residue buildup in the abdominal area?

The first batch did have some with leaky abs but it seems like it was more pronounced on the second batch.

I don't think that is so much the case. Reason being the gap from the HK release was what? 3 - 4 weeks. It really wasn't long enough to show how widespread it was to this day. From what we all know now this process took 2 - 6 - 8 weeks and longer to get so bad. Yes some figures were starting to ooze after 48 hours but sometimes some figures cleared up with a stop and go process that was only prolonged. Like mine, as what happened to Dino's. It was sitting dormant. It's inevitable to stop it.

Some got so bad after owning it for months. Like mine. So many variations of symptoms. Everyones side effects were different but all the same areas suffered the same problem. What's strange though mine wasn't melting below the suit but that could be because of the kitchen roll layers. It still never stopped it on one figure which was so odd. It still started and stopped on and on. Then got to the stage it would no longer stop.

I seem to be the only one so far that the kevlar pattern bubbled up and wrinkled coming away from the surface. This was the figure that was flawless that turned out to be the worst one. So weird. At least a good few months worth of oozing happened to that. Once it was carefully dried the decal fell back to the surface that then was all stretched and lumps everywhere.

The oil problem was a long drawn out waiting process. Week after week, month after month to see the damage. Whether it would clear up on it's own. It never would happen since the rubber was breaking down. Which probably explains why it's the 2 lower plates that had so much problems. Thicker plates than the top two. So the curing process wasn't done right because of a denser rubber.

Saying that even if the process was carried out correctly with this new thermoplastic rubber the rubber caused a chemical reaction coming in contact with each other. That is why to this day they use this plastic divider to stop it. I could guarantee if someone was to risk taking that divider out it will slowly eat away at itself over many months. This is probably the reason why you don't see this effect with the boots. It's probably the same type of rubber the boots for the Batman Begins original suit and v1 TDK figures are made out of that doesn't have any reaction with contact.

However the bicep plates are a real puzzler for me. I can't work that one out. It's not as thick as the two lower abdominal plates. Most of my bicep plates were starting to firm up though like a few other members here and the plates that never bubbled you could feel a rough shriveling texture to the kevlar pattern. No doubt would have eventually split on it's own.

I've been following this thread for quite some time now (not all 200+ pages) but still following nonetheless. So, is it safe to say that the D.C. Direct supply is "safe" and will not leak?

Time has flown, I didn't get too into it though once I got it back, still a great figure, but between the issues and just generally being TDKed out for awhile and T2 stuff coming, I've moved on for now, I took probably 1000+ photos over the course of the TDK line, I might come back to it later with new ideas or skills but for now, it's more of the same and I'm just not fired up behind it. Still good to know such a nice looking figure should last and stay looking nice.

I agree with you 100%.

It's a great figure, and as soon as I get my replacement body, the figure will take back it's pride of place in my Detolf.
However, every time I will look at it, I will be reminded of the hassle it caused me.

Buy a Medicom Dark Knight figure and leave this issue behind. I'm very very happy with my desicion.

I do think the medicom is a good choice, but they do not have the light up Sonar head and the DCD issue seems to have these past issues worked out. Also the Medicom figures do not look in proportion to the other Hot Toys figures.

not to mention you really do have to mod it a bit to make it on par and even more mods to take it up a notch... DX02 is still without a doubt the best out of box

Well, obviously straight out of the box Hot Toys is better. You gotta wait a few days before it starts to leak for most of them :lol.

Please no more Medicom flame wars.

I don't know why but Medicom Dark Knight figure is as big as HT one. He's bigger than HT Hellboy though. And you can buy a cheap Medicom DK figure on big bad toy store ($112) and you can buy a light-up base of DX02. I'm at work but after arriving home I'll take some picture with my phone and share them.
