Is this to replace a second figure or a replacement for a replacement?

A second figure ;)

As I said about a week ago, the replacement I got shows minor leaking. Actually I can"t see any oil on the plates, it's just that the lower abs got a little shinier than the rest. But it hasn't gotten any worse than that so they did improve the body.

Oh and no oil on the arms either

Still a bit early to make that call though.

Agreed..For all we know, they're pulling these replacement bodies from the DC Direct batch production line.

I was going to start a new thread with this (don't know if I should?)
I wanted to warn everyone that is sending in their DX02 for replacement. Today I got this from CS at Hot Toys:

"Hello Rory,

This is just ridiculous. They told me in the middle of March to send it to a different address. I responded by asking them if their mail is forwarded, one would imagine that they would have a mail forwarding service!

So waiting to see what they have to say next. So in total, thank you Hot Toys:

1. a badly manufactured figure (mine had several faults, not just oil)
2. Hassle of trying to get a replacement
3. Postage costs with no figure in hand.
4. What now, total loss of the figure and costs?

Any advice?

NOT... a happy camper.

OH MY GOD!!!

Its like a circus show isnt it!

They surely have re-direct post to new address set up for 'x' amount of months until customers are completely aware of the change?

Worth asking the question?

I cant believe this mate i am really sorry to hear this

Wow... can't wait to see where this is going. Hate to think of the worst case scenario, but could they be tired of replacing all these bodies?

Yeah I know. I find it really sad that one of 1/6's leading companies is gaining the reputation of just not caring about their customers. You would figure that they know it's the customers that make them what they are and they would put their customers first and not last.

What's even more sad is that customers will forget about this incident once the Iron Man figures are released and Hot Toys will get away with this consequence free.

Well, it's like I've said, unless you could guarantee their entire customer base boycotting them, they have a lot of leverage and ultimately, you're left with nothing but punishing yourself more than HT. If I cancel and stop buying HT, someone else will fill in my orders, I'm sure there are plenty of people itching for their product and unable to get it that would glad take over my orders, so cancelling does nothing but deny me something I might enjoy, HT'll never feel anything from it, it'd take huge numbers of people doing that and it just won't happen.

As for this latest incident, it's exactly why I buy from distributors that'll take care of these sorts of problems for me, as direct dealings with HT do not seem to go over well.

Sad thing is, for every one of us, there're 10+ who don't care that their figure leaks and are willing to wipe it every day.

wow too bad this isnt going very well to say the least. i have 2 :( waiting out to see if anything gets better. doesnt look good at this point. i emailed customer service HT and they wanted pics and im like why would i make this up? what do i have to gain by going thru all this hassle? anyways. might go the clearcoat route.

Well it's not unreasonable for them to ask for pictures. Batman DX is essentially a 2 in 1 set, so you have to gain building 2 figures from your set by getting a replacement without proof of problems, and they're not going to want to deal with the hassle of saying just ship it to us and find out it's not defective and have to deal with the customer to ship it back. Photo proof is pretty standard, even with Sideshow.

Exactly...

It's a shame though the people that accept it and if you speak out you get told to STFU and suck it up.

Well, it's give and take. The people that are willing to accept it should be at least understanding that to some people it's a significant problem, however, some people that have a problem with it can also be tactless and whiny about it too, so I don't see any issue with them getting told STFU. It takes little effort to make reasonable and articulate comments regarding the problem, if you can't be bothered to do more than speak like a whiny 5 year old not getting the toy he saw in the store, than you should be called out on it.

I just wished Costco would sell these :(
I bought a luggage set from Costco many years ago and it had these hard plastic/rubber sidings to help it stay in shape and take some of the abuse. After only taking it on a trip the first year and then taking them out 4 yrs later those plastic/rubber sidings would just start crumbling and falling apart with me using just one hand! There was no residue of any kind and when I took it back they said that they have replaced these for quite some time and I am covered!
Imagine that happening to our beloved DX02 not years but possibly months down the road. Those that ignore this problem simply are ignorant of whats to come. Certainly nobody knows exactly what is the cause and the consequences are but some assumptions are likely to be more valid than others. If oozing is originating from the rubber somehow, then the assumption that it is integral to it's composition is pretty much certain. It is not a stretch at all to then conclude that in the months ahead we will start seeing this material loose it's original properties, mainly shedding it's flexibility and possibly become brittle.
And that is why we need either an admission to this or a similar theory or to be told that it is simply NOT part of the composition and hence will NOT have a long term impact on the materials properties. But I do fear that some of you are becoming more and more right with each passing day that HT is shying away from coming out because they think they can get away with it :( I really do believe that HT has to fix this at least for the SS shipment as otherwise it will jeopardize their partnership with them when SS has to deal with piles of complaints and returns

Oh I should not have typed this because of a promise I made :p
