Before viewing his photos I thought the abs were plastic as well from his description.

It's been known to ooze even with that plastic divider. If only this was a 100% proven remedy. We'd all be sitting around the camp fire singing Kumbaya and Joy to the world. ¬_¬

Or at the very least, actually enjoying our DX Batmans. :(

Yeah, I'm not really a fan of how seeing this leaking problem as interfering with enjoyment of the figure is looked at as silly by some. I know for me, it's no different than a broken wrist peg or any other defect that compromises the figure. Sure all the pieces work and you can pose and display him and the oil doesn't affect that, but the figure looks broken to me and it's definitely not meant to look that way, so I see a broken figure.

hi guy recived replacement body today...they did upgrade from rubber to plastic body..

Hi, it seems difficult to misinterpret what you have said, but are you able to clarify -
Are the abdominal plates (and presumably the biceps plates) now made of plastic?
Or are you simply referring to the plastic sheet that is placed underneath the armor shirt in your pictures?

Looks like excess paint or rubber.

Yes, this is HT's "fix" for the oil problem, a thin plastic sheath between the shirt and pants.

And it's no solution. A few days after I put on the belt it started to leak. So the replacement was not fixed at all. It leaks less. But I still have to clean it every two days...

So mine is still dry, although it does appear that the lower abs may be slightly darker.

I really think this could be environmental. Your experience may depend on humidity and temperature of where you keep the figure. It got a little warmer here recently and I didn't have the AC on and it seemed the abs got a bit darker. But it could be my imagination.

It does seem somewhate affected by heat, the worst case with mine was when I stood it right beside my computer monitor when it was overheating, that actually caused full moisture buildup, but room temperature was enough to bring out the glossing and darkening affects.

Great. Imagine how these figures will hold up to the summer heat this year. Here in NJ we're suppose to get a hot summer. Those with no central cooling will be in for a world of hurt with our DX Bats. What should we do about this?

Do you guys think theres a chance DC will demand a fix from Hot Toys because it is one of their licenses they're messing with. I know its most likely no but thought I'd throw it out there. If it was me and someone was messing up one of my characters with this problem I'd be like "look either fix it or I'll find someone who can do a better job".

That's something I hadn't thought of, but that could be some hope for the DCD shipments to be fixed. I can't imagine DC being clueless to this problem existing, and if they know, I could see them putting some pressure on Hot Toys that their shipments better be fine or there'll be hell to pay, and Batman has paid off big for HT, they wouldn't risk hurting their DC relationship and losing the chance to do figures from other Bat films or Batman 3, and any other DC properties.

Here's hoping that could be something, of course, it would still make any replacements that are still riddled with the problem a big FU to collectors getting them. If HT does indeed fully fix it for DC, then every customer should be entitled to get a fixed one.

SanShou, a black truetype with an even longer neck with a huge puddle of goo? ;)

Just checked mine again. Think I'm going on 3 weeks now still dry. A week nearly or just over with the belt on.

Nothing behind the belt and the biceps are still dry.

Thats one of the reasons I'm still holding out. Until the day 50 - 100 people confirm no oozing whatsoever after then I'm not risking this getting shipped back.

I highly doubt it. If at all, HT has showed DC the "fix." Additionally, that's not accounting for the thousands who'll not only buy this figure anyway, but be perfectly content wiping the abs and that's if they even realize they're leaking.

I agree it's a long shot, but if anyone's going to have any power in this matter, it'll be the license holder, clearly the customers have little leverage in this situation.

I received the replacement body for my second batman today.

I've displayed it for several hours with the belt on and so far so good. But I think it's safe to say that the lower abs will probably get shinier soon like they did on the previous body.
