Cheap plastic looking and boring Now I know they're not as exciting as most of the static Weta statues, you know the one's with the characters standing there doing nothing but plastic looking Sounds like the words of someone whose never actually seen these pieces. Quality wise [sculpt and paint app's] they are as good as anything from the Weta line, and as far as the sculpts themselves are concerned the Frodo and Gollum dio. sculpts are easily better than anything ever done by Weta. I would even take the Aragorn dio. sculpt [and likeness] over the Weta Elessar statue, which is the only one that even remotely looks like Viggo.

Well honestly, never went away just had nothing in this market to talk about, with passion, the other Cheap Plastic Models did nothing for me and bored me. But this one piece sparked my fire once again and I am curious to see if SS continues with the line and if they wont continue with the retreads. SSWeta was the bomb and with the hobbit finally on the way, Weta is going to kick it again, I cant wait.......

Well, yes I have seen the Aragorn piece and thought, how cute, plastic models now.... Just not into them, when I saw the pics of the Gandalf dio and saw that shiney floor, barf....cheap plastic models came to mind......Also as far as likeness, the SSW pieces are Lord of the Rings pieces and NOT Viggo pieces, I for one am glad they are not carbon copies of the actor, when I look at my statues, "doing nothing"I see much more then the forced image that the dios shove in your mind, my god use your imagination! The paint job is nice, sculpt is ave, but this piece shows real work, I cant wait to see it in person....

Yeah, why would you want the movie characters [which I believe the SS/Weta and now SS pieces are based on] to look like the actors who portrayed them when you could have look like total strangers And to think I just thought the Weta sculptors weren't skilled enough to give us accurate facial sculpts when it came to human-like characters...now I think it's because they just wanted us to use our imaginations

As far as me getting the dio. I doubt it. I'd rather take the $300 and spend it on something else....then on cheap plastic models...

Actually, Mo' aka Mr Fell Beast used to get on the SS/Weta line up pretty good back in the day...

After all he coined the following phrases:

Minas Anthill (his nickname for Minas Tirith, because it was so small)

Lady Waitress (nickname for Galadriel, because she looked like a waitress pouring water)

Mines of a Lump of Clay (nickname for Mines of Moria, saying it looked like a big lump of clay)

I am sure there are plenty more. But, I remember those off the top of my head.
