Alright you clowns. I had to register just so I could reply to this thread.
I don't follow the clone stuff very close. I'm a huge but conservative old school SW fan from 77 and I the prequels, although not my favs, carry their own weight with me as well. That's all the credentials I need to make a qualified comment about the new Ahsoka saber replica, but just in case here's a bit more...I have several MR sabers, a couple blasters, mini sabers and a mini blaster, an MR AT-AT replica!!!, an MR Millenium Falcon!!!! replica and a few sabers I made of my own.

Let's get real, based on animation or not, this is a genuine SW character AND a legit weapon - not to mention the fact that as soon as my eyes saw it in the SW Insider - I had to find out more so I could by it! It's one of the coolest SW sabers designed. SW has really always been about the weapons and ships (for me) anyway, so from that viewpoint, this product is as valid as it gets. I'm getting one.

More power to you EFX! Hope you have as much if not more success than Master Replicas and I can't wait to see how your products develope!!!!

You registered just to search for and post in a thread that's been dead nearly 2 months? So, what's eFX's dental plan like?

:lol :lol :lol

Somehow I think that an eFX rep or anyone affliated with them would know better than calling possible consumers "clowns" so....it can't be that. :lol This piece is as valid as any other Expanded Universe item. Unless it was written by Georgie himself you're always gonna have people screaming "Non-Canon" not to mention even it were the coolest looking lightsaber every produced, the character is horrendous enough not to support it. If it were dirt cheap then maybe other than that Hannah Montana can keep her civilized weaponry.

I love this remark Mike, i really do...and i'm not having a go at you either :D

Sad truth is alot of folks dont like the EU for one reason or the other, i have a feeling one day i'll start a topic on where people are on the "EU is not cannon" subject (tho i'm sure its already been done).

Ashoka's saber, tho a nice idea...was really a rather silly idea for a first release. Where they could have re-done one of MR's already done items, they took the bold move and made an EU characters hilt from a brand new part of the Star Wars universe.

Personally, i'd love to have seen Chewies Bowcaster from the OT, or a Vibro-Lance (the ones the skiff guards used in RotJ). But they made a lightsaber hilt, and they used the design for the "strong female" character from The Clone Wars Film/TV series.

Easy pass. The AOTC clone helmet will be mine though.

:lecture :lecture :lecture

And the reason I dislike the EU is not because it's "not canon", but because 95% of it is completely and utterly lame and contrived. I'm actually glad it's not canon. Lucas has been doing a good enough job on his own watering down the saga. :lol

The Mike is right. I'm not an efx rep. Funny, though.

No, I JUST saw the new ad in Insider, Googled the saber by efx and this thread popped up. Read all the bashing on it and felt efx needed a little moral support - given what happened to MR. I know licensing can be a tough nut from first hand experience (no, nothing SW related) and I'm for anyone starting up more replica products. The Hanna Montana reference is unfortunate and due to bad timing IMO. Most padawans are male in the stories and I think they were just injecting a little more female into the universe. But hey, that's just my opinion.

It's ALLLLLLL makebelieve anyway. Just meant for good times. Hopefully, when I'm 90 and living in my 1 to 1 scale Millenium Falcon house (yes, it's possible - plumbing up through the landing gear, etc.), I'll be remembering life and all the silly, fun Star Wars stuff - probably with my Ahsoka saber in hand.

Bad timing? More like deliberate timing. It isn't coincidental at all. The reason that Mike and others say that is because the character obviously was created to attract the very same audience that Hannah Montana does: the pre-teen adolescent girl demographic. That is a really big market right now, and like everything else Lucasfilm is keen to capitalize on it. Not saying that's right or wrong, it's just obviously the case.

Valid point. And to us older fans it's silly and demographic capitalizing. But, back in 1977 when we were all young teens, we were all crazy about SW and it's characters. Just goes to show how this phenom Lucas has created keeps working from generation to generation. Like you said, not good or bad, just the way it is.

I still want the "Hanna Montana" light saber replica. I would go around 3 for it though, NOT the $500 I've been seeing so far from web retailers. That was even too high for MR prices. AND DON"T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE PRICE FOR "SW FRAMES"!!! I'll find the thread for that one and rant to the SW licensing machine for sure.

I thought efx was only selling direct? What web dealers are advertising this for $500?

EDIT: I found one link for $399

Ahsoka Saber

Companies buy them from eFX then turn themaround and sell them on their site for a premium. Although there are other sites that are posting eFX products so they may be offering wholesale. The Ashoka is being previewed at $399 on several sites.

I dont think this sabers gonna sell great for EFX. If i'm gonna buy a CW saber its gonna be a set of Ventress sabers.

i hate the clone wars movie and tv series .
Uncle George continues ruining the Star Wars Universe.

but

i like the desing of the lightsaber.
but is a little too expensive for what it is.
i dont think it matches the Master Replicas quality.
