Darth Waller
Are you on the square?
I think I saw a photo one time from some Lucas party a long time ago that had a guy in a full concept costume.
Found it!

R2 calculates at least a 99.9999% chance of this.
and Irish how much would you think it will cost to actually build one? I mean I am saving money to get an R2 Lifesize one day thinking about the Sideshow one... but do you suggest to build one with parts from r2builders? Is it hard to build? THANKS
DO NOT buy the Barton/Sideshow one. At $5200+ it's an insult. You can build one yourself for about half that cost, and it would be more accurate AND be fully automated.
Cost depends solely on what you want your droid to be able to do, and what type of materials you use. People have built complete R2s from anywhere from $300-$500 static scratch builds to over $30,000.00 (all aluminum and steel with every bell & whistle you can think of, and then some).
When my latest is completely finished (in a month or two), I'll have about $3,700 in it, which includes 3 domes (1 all aluminum R2 dome, 1 styrene which will be a switch-out Jabba's Sailbarge Bartender dome, and an R5-D4 dome), a complete R/C drive system, and full lighting display (with 100% accurate sequencing). And I'll have 3 different presentations I can do with mine: standard R2-D2 (Tatooine weathered), R2 as a bartender (switch-out dome), and R5-D4 (switch out dome, switch-out utility arms, and attachable/detachable red skin plates). All of that for $1500+ less than Sideshow's... and much more accurate.
Another friend of mine has completed his, which is also fully R/C. And he has barely $2,000 total in it.
So, yeah... I suggest going the R2 Builders route, absolutely. It'll take a little time and patience (research is key.... but there is tons of information and specs out there, and almost all club members are extremely helpful) but it's well worth it.
Will you be at Celebration?
I'd pass on the Sideshow one, frankly. It's got a lot of inaccuracies (if you care about that kind of thing, but even more worrisome are the quality control issues that some buyers have run into (things breaking).

I need a droid who speaks Botchi.
Doesn't look like you have much of a choice...
I think I may have to pre-order this baby. I'm going with the clean version. I don't want to have to explain to people why he's all banged up.

You assume too much joker as always, of course I know the helmet on the bust is not 100% accurate... I know Star Wars... at the same time you can't say the Vader bust is not a great bust! Anyway as I said I'm thinking of buying the accurate efx Gino helmet too! and by the way... the one who know less about Star Wars is you as this picture you put is the ESB Helmet! and I KNOW that for every episode the helmet changes! so next time just don't waste time replying!
The unmasked portrait on the other hand looks great -- better than in the movie. I know that's probably nonsense to the prop enthusiasts out there, but I think they managed to make the unmasked Vader look imposing and regal, which are qualities that I wouldn't use to describe Shaw as he appeared at the end of ROTJ. Yes it's idealized, but to me that's a feature not a bug.
Well said. I always thought that the actual Vader reveal in the movie was a letdown, even as a kid.
Going to be awhile before these are available to order.
