Yes you must have not been collecting too long. The first Sideshow Star Wars 12 inch preorder days were very intense. You would be sitting for 40 minutes trying to get an order through. Also when GG was popular alot of the convention exclusive orders were like a madhouse. I dont know much about the prop replica stuff but I know somethings have been absolutely crazy.

The closest I can recall to this was the "Elite" Edition Luke saber that Master Replicas had up for pre-order (back in '05, I think). But even that paled in comparison to this beast.

It's gloss, but not the high gloss you see on on the ESB and ROTJ helmets.
It's distinctly ANH
