So, the Exclusive shipped first, then a bunch of people like me returned them, and now it's in stock before the Regular is even shipping. That tells you something, doesn't it? Sideshow blew it.

Obviously, I disagree. I understand that you didn't like it. But your earlier comment implied that only fans of the comic (as opposed to fans of the "real" Elvira) would like this piece, and that simply isn't true.

Perhaps you can provide a list of the "bunch" of people who returned it?

I didn't say only fans of the comics would like, I just said they would.

And, it's not my opinion that people have returned it. Obviously people returned it (or cancelled their orders) because the Exclusive is no longer sold out, is it? 2+2=4.

I'm every bit a fan of Elvira as any of you here, but I hated this piece. It's awesome if it's comic style, but compare it to an actual pic of Elvira and it's cartoony. I have never ever seen her in that Snow White pose holding a large, cartoon bat, or standing next to something as cheezy as that candle holder. I like realism in my statues, and it does not capture the real Elvira. I shouldn't have to say that's my opinion, it's a fact. The opinion is that it's a great figure to you. It doesn't do her justice in my opinion. Especially not for $318 with tax and shipping in California.

Ahh, I perceive now. You are still mistaken, but only in that your premise is flawed. A piece returning to second chance status is not an indication that people returned it. It is an indication that people either canceled their order, or their credit card was declined (which also results in a cancellation). As far as I understand it, a piece that is returned from a customer cannot be sold again as new. Perhaps someone from Sideshow can clarify their particular policy, but that is fairly standard business practice. Returned items can be resold, even at the same price as new items, but they are typically designated as returned merchandise.

It is VERY common for collectors of Sideshow's products to pre-order much more than they can afford, given Sideshow's generous cancellation policy. Then, as the time for shipments approaches, some people realize they simply can't afford what is on order, or that there are multiple items shipping at the same time, and they must choose one or the other. Of course, for some collectors, Elvira will be a lower priority than, say, Marvel or Star Wars, but that does not necessarily mean that this piece is not well-liked.

As I said earlier, I understand that you don't like the piece, and there is nothing wrong with that. I can even understand your disappointment to a degree. I too would have loved a classic realistic pose, but that doesn't, in my opinion, detract from this piece at all. I don't know if you are aware, but Cassandra gave her approval and endorsement for this sculpt. That should count for something, shouldn't it?

So, my point is this. Not liking the piece, for whatever reason, is perfectly understandable. Jumping to the conclusion that yours is the popular opinion, simply based on the fact that the piece is available on second chance (and only 30 pieces out of 350, at that), is silly.

Well argued. I did not account for credit card failures, but I did account for last minute cancellations, however that reflects more on a person's budget than on product quality since the figure does not differ from the one pictured on the site when pre-ordered.

You are right, the figure itself does not suck. The ****age and dress were top notch in my opinion. It just didn't live up to MY expectations, but I'm a perfectionist.

I was hoping to warn people about this figure based on my disappointment, but anybody (including me) who ordered it already knows how it looks, and the final product is just like the prototype shown on the site. I was just hoping beyond hope that it would grow on me but didn't. The fact that Elvira liked it does mean a little, but it still doesn't make it display any better... to me.

Hopefully somebody will do another one, or Sideshow will do a second, realistic portayal.

I'd like a realistic version more than the one we got but I'm still getting this. If they do a realistic version later on I'll trade this one it to get it :D

I wouldn't count on this. Amoktime had two really nice prototypes of a 1/4 scale PF sculpted by Linn Michaels and a 1/6th scale figure by Joy Snyder. Both really captured Cassandra as Elvira. From what I was told her reps would not approve either sculpt for production. Amoktime has a 7 inch Elvira coming out which is a nice looking figure, but the likeness is not there. Seems fairly obvious that Elvira doesn't want any merchandise out there that looks to close to the real thing. After months of prodding I finally convinced Linn Michaels to send me a picture of the 1/4 scale. This was the first pass at completing the sculpt and the sculptor feels it needs more work. Based on this information it seems unlikely that a "realistic" Elvira is going to be offered. As a licensed product anyway.

Now that statue is what I am talking about. It does need some work, but if you combine that presentation with the production quality of Sideshow's piece, that would be the Holy Grail Elvira figure.

Yeah, the Amoktime figures look sorta nice, but I don't do anything but 1/6 and 1/4 anymore.

Don't know why there are always people who can't accept the best versions of figures made of them like the Hot Toys Kane. It's like they don't appreciate the fans they have enough to allow us perfect, small idols of themselves for us to worship.

Elvira may have turned down the Amoktime 1/4 scale because of whatever deal she had with Sideshow. License issues very often screw the fans that would buy certain products if only they could get approved.

That wouldn't surprise me at all. It could be that Cassandra had offers from both Sideshow and Amok Time, but went with Sideshow because of the higher revenue/royalty/"exposure" (no pun intended ;)) potential. Since most license agreements prohibit any other vendor from producing product in the same category, and it appears that the Amok Time prototype was 1/4 scale mixed media, the inked agreement with Sideshow was likely what scuttled the Amok Time project.

That still doesn't explain whether it was her idea or Sideshow's to make the PF that we got more of a caricature.

Oh that sucks I would have loved to have seen Elvira's realistic prototype pics :( Damn! :lol Is that link the pf??

It's here... surprised to see a small package for a pf... smallest ever. Seems to be packed differently, a different seal of quality etc. Nice piece.
