Jar Jar would make good target practice for the Endor Troopers, actually...
It sounds like Sideshow is going to have to add another disclaimer to their product pages. They have already used

"Lightsabers do not ignite"

Maybe they need to add

"Blasters do not fire"

:D

I'm not really bothered about either but I'd pick the Endor Troops over Jar Jar 10 times out of 10.

A $65 chew toy?? :horror :google

You must REALLY love your dog!

BTW, I voted for Jar Jar.

It's the satisfaction of watching that pathetic character getting chewed to bits that would be worth the $65 clams... :lol

I could pretend to hear him saying, "Meesa gonna die!"

Actual character qualities aside, I think Jar Jar would be a more interesting figure---Yes he is annoying as Hell in the movies, but if he was made into a figure it would be an interesting sculpt. Although, if you think the same way about the troopers, they look pretty good if you put aside the "They had little significance" idea.

Exactly. I'd get both if given the option but Jar Jar is a main character in Episode 1 so I'd rather get main characters than ANY rebel trooper. Rebel troopers are stand alone characters. They're rarely seen with the main characters at all

But of course, Stormtroopers or Clones would definitely trump Jar Jar.

All that really annoys me about Jar Jar is Ahmed Best's voice. It's like pots and pans, nails on a chalkboard. The character itself is decent enough.

I think the problem with Jar Jar is the execution of the character. In every scene he speaks in it feels like the focus is on how dumb he is rather, than whats going on. To much mindless bumbling to be worth much. I really think if he had been toned down (voice too) that it would not have been nearly as much of a problem and people could focus their hatred more on Jake Lloyd :lol

Jar Jar as a character might be annoying to some, but I think that almost everyone who saw him in 12" figure form would recognize him as a Star Wars character. If the Endor rebels were seen by themselves, some people might not make the Star Wars connection. Jar Jar is controversial, but well recognized.

I had some issues with his execution but for me it was more the horror over wondering whether or not Jar Jar was going to have a pivotal role in EVERY episode of the PT. If he'd been bumbling around Mustafar shouting "Meesa hot!" while Anakin battled Obi-Wan I might have sworn off SW for good. As it stands I'm totally fine with his antics since they're confined within the bounds of TPM. ROTS gave me what I wanted so all is well. TPM gave us something different, some of it worked, some of it didn't but I respect George for taking a chance, and then reigning in that "chance" when making future episodes. :D

As for the character itself he's a pretty interesting design and is a nice fixture to all the excitement surrounding the anticipation and excitement of watching a new SW episode in 1999.

Jar Jar dialogue was also pivotal in giving us a laugh out loud moment in the South Park movie.

Has anyone in here seen The Phantom Edit a few years back? Ahmed's voice was replaced with an alien voice and an alien language and it worked about 10,000 times better.

If George made one revision to anything PT I would hope it would be changing Jar Jar's voice and making his dialogue a subtitle. It just worked so well in TPEdit. (besides CG Yoda and Qui-Gon's ghost)... :D

The Endor Troopers are getting very little love across all the message boards, but I am really excited to get a few guys from the Star Wars universe that are part of the military line, and I think the display possibilities with three soldiers could be really cool. I can't wait to have a little Endor squad. As for Jar Jar, I'd buy him too, and having just watched some of Phantom Menace with the little autistic guy I work with, I think Sideshow would do a great job with him. Jar Jar is annoying, but at least you can cut him some slack for being a weird idea George Lucas had that just fell flat. Anakin is annoying in both the Jake and Hayden versions, either as a creepy robot boy, or an insane teenager that Padme shouldn't tolerate for two seconds, let alone sleep with. Enough of my yakking....

I'd buy both. Jar Jar for the interesting design and the ERTs because when I was a kid Jedi was my favorite movie. Unfortunatly I was planning on getting a Hasbro Biker Scout but that costume and scult is atrocious. I still need to get an extra set though so that I can make a better Endor Luke and Leia and an extra trooper.

Why spend the money on these goons when they will make Endor Luke and Leia ineviatbly. That's just a waste of money if you ask me. Patience.

Because then when the do make Endor Luke and Leia, I can take the helmets and other random bits back and make 2 other ERTs. Then I would have 6 different ERTs (yes I plan on using different heads, mix and match outfits).

I didn't see that version but I wanted the subtitle treatment on the Neimoidians. At least when they're speaking amongst themselves.

What I like about the Phantom Menace is that the fixes are all relatively easy. The problems or disappointments I found in AOTC or ROTS are too difficult to fix.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but the Hasbro Jar-Jar was designed rather well. I can only imagine how much better Sideshow's version would be. But if we're going to get a Gungan, then I'd MUCH rather have Capt. Tarpals. (which by the way, was another well done rendition by Hasbro, along with his "ride"... I can't remember the name of the thing and am too lazy to go to my closet to check... ;) )
