when you guys speak of "the first proto pic", do you mean this one?

It looks about the same as the one in the official pics on the previous page to me. :dunno

The sculpt is perfectly the same, though the paint apps can be debatable, whether it's through lighting or actual change. That said, I don't think anyone should expect the production figures to have paint like that, given their track record.

I think it's just the lighting. The official pics have an obvious sepia tone filter applied. Enterbay's production Jack Bauer and Bruce Lee figures usually look about the same as the prototypes, and when they don't it's usually about 90%. It's completely unreasonable to expect that a mass produced factory paint job will match a prototype painted by Enterbay's best painter. Same goes for any other collectibles company -- HT, Sideshow, etc etc.

For those of you in the States, BBTS has it on preorder for $169.99, but you'll save on shipping ($10-15 instead of $35).

hahah I am so amazed at how ppl in this forum react so much diff than ppl in other hong kong forums.... basically most hk ppl have issues with enterbay, being that they had MAJOR delays for their release of storm warriors but most importantly, the mass produced head sculpt of the main character differs WAY differently than the prototype.... not to mention they always seem to have many excuses.

I dunno how many percentage of ppl that say "yes" + "horray" for this prototype are chinese, but for chinese ppl we could tell that it doesn't really look like donnie yen at all in many angles. However, to be very fair, personally I think that if the final product can keep it up to the prototype then it's a good figure (but no, sorry, I don't think it worths this price knowing the general build quality of EB figures: loose joints, lack of joints etc. ). After recent incidents of the storm warrior figures, many ppl are not stupid enough to pre-order anything from EB again, they'd rather see the real product first (since they know that it differs WAY too much from the prototype, and also not to mention that the figures won't really sell out)

I am personally from Hong Kong and I really wish EB could do well since it's a HK co. but from recent incidents it's telling me that it's far from a satisfactory company.... but i guess they still got a huge overseas market...so more the power to them.

The only EB figure I have is the FoF Bruce Lee and it's awesome... the head sculpt is fine IMO and the body is superb - the ratchety joints don't bother me like they bother some folks.

As for Donnie Chen's likeness, I'm not buying this figure because it's Donnie Chen from the movie, I'm buying it because it's Ip Man and what the original guy represents to me. There is another IP Man out there modeled on the real person, but it's pretty lame and over-priced.

So maybe I have a false confidence in the company because of the Bruce Lee I have that I'm perfectly satisfied with... I guess I'll wait and see.

As for the figures not selling out... technically this might be true if you're wealthy enough to outlay double the RRP and more on any Bruce Lee figure outside of FoF. And hasn't the Godfather done pretty well? Jet Li too, as Dominishin points out.

The only thing that worries me is that they have it as 4th quarter release when it's mid-3rd quarter from EB. I hope they're just being cautious and the figure gets to them at least by the end of August.

How could anyone look at the head sculpt and not think it's Donnie Yen? It might not be perfect, but it's damn close. So close. It's as close to Donnie as HT's Godfather looks like Marlon Brando or Aldo Raine looks like Brad Pitt. Or Enterbay's own Bruce looks like real Bruce.

agreed. it might not be spot on, but its pretty damn close. if u look at it, u wudnt mistake it as someone else, ud know its donnie yen

I love BBTS - their customer service is first rate, the 'pile of loot' system is awesome and their prices are very reasonable. But man, waiting as long as I did for them to have the T-800's in stock was like keeping a kid waiting 'til new year to unwrap his Christmas presents.

Maybe they're being conservative in the estimated arrival date so people aren't waiting and wondering?

If HK people are freaking out about the latest prototype not looking like the previous one, then it's something I can't understand. The only difference is the lighting. For all we know it's the same prototype. The sculpt remains the same. Some areas of the sculpt aren't perfect, but generally I think it's an exceptional piece.

Ahh, that's what it was! The half profile could be fuller, Donnie has a fairly round face. But then again, the angle isn't exactly the same in the two pics.

On the lower three, the first proto paint apps have subtle differences that give it a better likeness I think, such as the pupils and lips.

Yeah the angle on the first top two comparison shots isn't a perfect match, but you're right in saying that his face should be rounder, going by the front shots below the top two. The ears could be lowered a bit also. Not a big deal to me though.

As for the paint, I don't think there's actually a difference and I'm betting that it's just the lighting, but it's tough to judge. With HT figures, by now we'd have photos of their store display and Tommy Richardson's photos of a figure in question, making it easier to judge. Enterbay...not so much.

If Enterbay is shipping mid-August, we probably won't get them from BBTS until the end of September, which is roughly 4th quarter, isn't it?

To me, the problems are with the lack of intensity in those eyes of his and his eyes are also a little to squinty and droopy, almost looks like he is half asleep.

I am fine with slightly thinner lower half, it makes him look more flattering.

ps- you will be surprised at how often an artist will request the sculptors to make their figure look more younger, handsome, etc, etc...
