Re: ENTERBAY - 1/4 The Dark Knight

I duno, looks like a huge Enterbay hatefest since most people buy Hot Toys stuff.

I'm assuming the left one is Enterbay since the neck and head are one piece.

I'm expecting a more detailed head sculpt of Christian Bale if Enterbay is doing an unmaskable 1:4 Batman.

EB is very good, but HT godfather is even better

To suggest the EB one doesn't remotely look like Brando though is pure horse poo :lol

The problem is you're comparing prototype shots. That full body side-by-side is accurate (I owned both the EB and HT Godfather figures). EB's finished product wound up looking MUCH different than the prototype, and while HT's looked much different as well, theirs was an improvement. HT produced Don Vito Corleone, EB produced his Spanish half-brother, Don Frito Cornholio. This is my point with EB. They really need to cinch the huge gap between prototype and production. Otherwise, it's not even really a competition, especially at EB's gougingly higher prices.

Well, mission accomplished already for HT - like I said in another post, just with their announcement, HT has probably killed most of EB's sales on these figs.

I'm betting most people will probably want to wait and see what HT has to offer before buying EB's version, if at all.

Hot Toys really do suck in this respect, they didn't even give EB a chance they basically took their idea and said to all fans, "don't buy this, we're doing it now just to screw them"

Pretty sleazy and underhanded IMO

This is an employee mentality vs. a boss/owner mentality. :huh

Re: ENTERBAY - 1/4 The Dark Knight

Yes, shame on Hot Toys for not giving a competing company an opportunity to gain advantage in a market. :rolleyes2

Re: ENTERBAY - 1/4 The Dark Knight

i'm not getting this whole "massive quality gap between prototype and production" thing. ok, it was apparent on some of their earlier figures, but a lot of the recent figures/statues i've received from them have been amazing in hand. no disparity from prototype. EB are still young and relatively small. HT had just as many problems when they were at that stage in their development.

and pricewise, in the uk, HT long overtook EB on prices for 1/6.

You must be new.

EB is notorious for misleading protos. Like said, HT improves on their protos, while EB comes out worse.

i think people dislike the way they do things, not what they actually do. i think everyone welcomes the competition, just not HT's strange childish attitude where they seem to want to piss over every EB announcement.

nam mentioned it was the other way around with EB going after terminator and batman licenses, but HT were seemingly done with (and sold out of) those by the time they announced. and it's a different scale. HT's announcements seem to follow EB's pretty sharpish, for the exact same product.

I can understand that. But I don't blame HT for quelling any little rebellion EB or any other would be competitor has in any similar market. Why give someone else a chance to steal your customers and thunder when you're the best & you can do it better yourself? I wouldn't bet EB can do it better and for longer given their track record.

and they have every right to do that, i fully agree. but if HT had gone to war honourably, i'd still have some respect for them. but instead they did it douchely. the way they've jacked up prices, jumped from one crap blockbuster movie to the next, and the way they communicate with us now ("you _______s bought knock off mark 1's on ebay, so now we rerelease. don't do it again!" or "yes, we were going to do no country for old men [liars] but because you lot bought bootlegs we changed our mind") they remind me of bertram, rather than the bad mofos they really are.

I don't think HT's done with T2 and we both know they're certainly not done with either of Nolan's Batman films. Again, in this campain, EB fired first. HT's announcement is a deserved counter attack. Thinking a smart business decision is childish, is childish in and of itself. Frankly, from a financial standpoint, it makes perfect sense. Looking at it from any other perspective is naive.

Like I said I understand that you dislike the tactic, and it isn't exactly friendly that's for certain. But that's business. :dunno

i think a different scale put EB's announcement in a whole other category to what HT were doing, but that's my own opinion and i know you don't agree.

i personally don't feel HT were always about pure smart business. of course they needed to make money to survive, but back in the day i think their raison d'etre was different. i honestly feel they were having more fun, enjoying the challenge, and loved the movies they did. most companies start out that way and initially money is secondary. now i agree it's naive to think after such growth, popularity and expansion they could carry on in the same vain. it's just not possible. eventually every company has to become about profitability. but i don't think it's childish to feel some nostalgia towards those good ol' days even though it was always inevitable those days would pass. old HT would never have gone about business in the same way as they have recently. basically, i accept it is what it is. good business. but i don't have to like it.

BUT... from what i understand there is some personal vendetta between the two companies and this goes beyond simple business smarts.

Getting angry because one company wants to put their competition out of business is what's childish. I don't think there's anything unsavory or impractical about HT's announcement. I think if anything, it should put EB on notice and force them to improve the end product. I know it's beating a dead horse, but when you look at the improvements HT achieved from proto to finished product on the DX02, and compare that with EB's GoD which wasn't even remotely close to what we saw with the prototype it leaves a bad taste in the mouth of middle-roading collectors just looking for good figures and forces the fanboys in uber-defensive, fantasyland mode. We've seen this with just about every release the two companies have put against each other. We saw it with Godfather and no doubt see it again here with the upcoming Batman figures.

But as I said, in this particular case, and Terminator, EB shoved HT and now that HT's shoved back, all the EB fans are crying foul. That's pretty douchy. Let EB defend itself with the end product.

Re: ENTERBAY - 1/4 The Dark Knight

When you are a bussiness owner there is no freindly compitition.there's only another company taking away sales from you.the pc thing to say is we love a little friendly compition but behind closed doors it changes to how can we keep that company from stealing our bussiness.enterbay is the only company that can compete with ht.and it shows that hot toys is thinking the same thing.
