Yeah..add the fact the turkey goalkeeper got sent off and it was an unbelievable last 10 mins

what a mistake by petr cech though....usually the best keeper in europe

I tuned in with 72 minutes on the clock and the Czech Republic 2 goals up so I really enjoyed the finish. The sending off of the goalkeeper was a joke, the Czech forward despite being considerably taller than most players at 6 feet 7 inches went down like he'd been punched by Mike Tyson in his prime and should have been the one sent off for playacting.

true but the laws say you not allowed to raise your hands to another player..imo yellow card to koller but the red card to the keeper was deserved

Yeah he shouldn't have put his hands on Koller but I really hate it when players overreact to stuff like that.
As England were too crap to qualify it's been nice to watch a tournament without the moronic media and plastic patriot supporters constantly going on about our one major success in 1966 and acting like the current team has a divine right to win everything in sight.
Portugal rested a lot of players which goes some way to explaining their loss and I expect Holland will rest some of their players on Tuesday as well as there's no point risking vital players getting injured or suspended for the knock out phase.

Well after Germanys win this morning half the qtr's have been decided with Portugal v Germany and Croatia v Turkey. Most likely Spain has to wait to see who gets through as runners up from the group of death whilst the Netherlands get Sweden or Russia.

Has been an excellent tournament so far way better than the previous from memory with the only small negative some of the poor decisions with penalties and offsides.Maybe they should look at using technology for certain issues in the game.

Hope the semis pan out as Portugal/Germany v Croatia and Netherlands v Spain with the winner of this game taking the title. Was hoping for a Spain v Netherlands final but unfortunately on the same side but hoping one of them at least gets to the final.

Just knew the Italians would sneak through to the next rd,lets hope that Spain kick their ass.Whilst no doubting Italy have quality just like they did in the WC they damn well ride their luck.

At least their playmaker Pirlo and their terrier in midfield Gattuso are suspended. Now the mental side of the spanish will be tested now there are no second chances so lets see if their the real deal, hope so.

Gotta say another positive to come out of this tournament is the reaction of some of the coaches like Van Basten and Slaven Bilic who actually show the passion they have for the game and the their teams particularly when they score.

Germany 3 Portugal 2 !!!!!!!!!!!
Ronaldo proved once again he can't perform in big matches and anyone who thinks he's the world's best player after that "performance" needs their heads looking at.
True greats dig deep and still give 100% when their team is behind but once Germany went ahead it was like he'd left the stadium.
If Real Madrid are willing to spend the sort of money that's been rumored (£60-100 million depending where you read) I think Man Utd should cash in and send the overhyped primadonna packing.

bcm77,you are missing a few things:
he has the biggest potential to perform big,but look at todays match,IMO the most stupid move by scolari was to place Ronaldo on top,i mean, what the hell?Everyone knows that his favourite position and where he does it best,is a free role on the midfield, offensive,if he played in this role for the whole match im sure it would make a difference for the whole team.

When he was placed on top he had no space to perform anything since the back line was up on him right away, this made a huge difference for the match.

Its easy for people to say that they cant perform on the national team, the club team and the national team is 2 different things.

Ronaldo is a player that still need to grow up mentally, thats his weakness, little patience and bad performance under pressure.

3 World Cups and 3 European titles....is there a better, more consistant European team than Germany? Let's give the German's some credit for shutting down Ronaldo. They marked him quite effectively for most of today's match and I'm sure that had alot to do with his performance today.

Germany last goal was a foul...the guy pushed off to get the ball...but hey he got away with it.

The first and third goals should not have been allowed due to pushes from german players and i cant believe the officials didn't see them especially the last one.

Got to feel a bit sorry for Portugal another extremely talented team similar to Spain who never reach their full potential.

Whilst there marking was a shocker it basically comes down to the mental strength of the players something Germany have used to win many games.

Although Germany were indeed fortunate to get the decisions in this match.

I;ve been watching a bit here and there. As dull as some soccer matches can be, others are really intense.

But, man, I hate all the pretending when guys get barely tapped. Its almost enough to ruin the whole sport.

I cant believe this Croatia and Turkey match. No goals all game the Croatia scores to pretty much lock it up in final min of overtime then in extra time Turkey ties it up.

Now will Turkey even have a team left to play Germany? I think they have 3 players suspended for the next game now.

Un-freaking-believable! :(

And they win with penalties. I hate penalties.

Now I gotta stay awake until 1 AM because all the Turks are driving around the neighborhood, honking their horns and yelling their lungs out. Freaking annoying. I don't mind them being happy, but you can overreact.

Sorry but I can't agree with you there. Touching someone on the back and pushing off are two different things. Not only was the referee right there when both goals were scored, not a single Portugese player complained to the ref on either goal. As well, there wasn't even a single mention of pushing off by the announcer calling the game, nor was this mentioned by the analysts here in Canada at halftime, or after the game....and one of the analysts is a former goalkeeper in the English Premier league. If anybody was going to comment on the legality of those goals it would have been him.

Well I watched it on ESPN(here in the states) and the analyst said both times they should have been called fouls and not had the goal allowed.

Fair enough Woodsy but according to the rules you are unable to use your hands on an opponent and if u look at both incidents they were both clearly shoved to lose their balance. Some of the Portugese players did complain after the third goal so i dont know whether u or your coverage missed it.

If u know football then u know commentators regularly miss incidents but all three analysts over here clearly stated that the third goal should have not been allowed. They missed the first incident and im still not even sure u know what im talking about.

Look i was equally happy for the Germans to win as i like both teams and was not supporting either just hoping that they were both just given a fair go.Portugal were not and like so many games the officials had to much of an influence in the outcome. This is still one of the negatives in football that has to change.

On a brighter note the upsets continue and Turkey the comeback Kings pull off another big win.
