As the only Portuguese on this forum, I´m obviously rooting for my country to win!!
We´ve been soooooooo close so many times, but the final win has always alluded us.
I´m hoping for this year to be it, but in all honestly , I think that Germany is a real powerhouse....

Its early but Netherlands is beating Italy 1-0 about half way through the first

Final score: 3-0 for the Netherlands! I must admit, I wasn't expecting that at all. I was thinking 3-0 for the Italians. Great match tho, with a (to me) surprising final score! Go Holland! :banana

Just got back home and watched some of the highlights of the game. The Netherlands really handed it to them. Van Nistleroy looked great in this game scoring on his opportunities. Good match.

:blissy I think I'm gonna have to make the trip down to Toronto's "little Italy" tonight just to see the grown Italian men do what they do best....cry and whine like little girls! :rotfl

Man, what a match. Holland really showed why they're so feared. Italy played well but were no match for Holland's fast paced game. I am sure if Cannavaro was present, Holland wouldn't have scored as many goals. Still.....go Holland!:rock

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh its football not soccer. congrats holland im sure your gonna win the cup. As england failed to qualify my moneys on holland, germany or portugal ..............

I'll reserve judgement on that Holland team until they play against a talent young team as I think Italy are still relying on a previous generation of players whose legs have simply tired

Unexpected result for sure with the Dutch getting their first victory over the Italians since '78.
First goal was clearly offside and whilst both teams had their chances i'm glad the men in orange took it as they thoroughly deserved the win.

In the other match France showed little whilst Romania seemed to be content to pick up a draw.

Had the Italian defender been knocked out of bounds by a Dutch player it would have been an offside call. Since he was knocked out of bounds by his own goalkeeper he is still considered to be in the field of play, therefore van Nistelrooy was not offside when he scored.

Dude get your facts straight... the first goal was technically NOT offside...

Yeah like i said heard that later so come on mate forgive me for not knowing just like every commentator and player i have seen interviewed that had no idea.I like most who have played the game were always told that once the player leaves the field he is no longer part of the game.

As it says in the article "Not many people, even in the game, and I include the players, know this interpretation".

I'm sure u knew though.;) :D

I wouldn't be to confident of the Italians not getting through as we have seen it all before, fingers crossed they don't.

Spain played well and have an awesome midfield and forward line but still concerned about their backs and their mental strength when the going gets tough and yes their last goal was offside or was it not that it mattered by then?:D

At this stage hoping that they or the Dutch take it all the way.
