May be controversial here, but I’d actually prefer to have the Robin Curtis version of Saavik.
Always found Kirstie Alley’s version a bit meh…

I'll be even more controversial and say I actually prefer Kim Cattrall's Valeris to either one. I just found that character so much more interesting and complex than Saavik, and Cattrall played her perfectly.

It makes it difficult when a recurring character was played by two different actresses. In an ideal world, we'd have both Saaviks and Valeris on our shelves, but the reality is we may only get one. I prefer Kirstie, wouldn't be upset with Robin.

I don't think it's that controversial. Kim Catrall is arguably (perhaps objectively) a better actress than either Kirstie Alley and Robin Curtis, and Valeris is much more complex than Saavik.

I love Cattrall but I thought she made a terrible Vulcan. Far too emotional.

I think Spock got far more emotional in that movie than she did. And I always prefer seeing a hint of emotion or attitude in Vulcans anyway, versus those like Curtis or Peck who are far too robotic in their delivery for my taste.

The inner battle of controlling their emotions is one of the things I find so fascinating with Vulcans. I also like when you see at least a hint of that inner battle. Even though they try to be logical and control their emotions they definitely still seem to have them so seeing them try to walk that fine line feels more realistic then when they are portrayed woodenly.

Even her own mother said she was too emotional. I liked Blalock too, the turmoil. I think maybe Cattrall didn't seem like she was trying and that was what felt off to me.
