I was disappointed by the rooted hair, mostly because of the poor quality of it. This isn't the natural fibre wool kind of hair we're seeing on artisan figures today, but something like the thin polyester strands we saw on dolls and other 1:6 figures in the past. At least that's what it feels like and how it behaves. The hair is easily messed up and left with flyaway strands. I can imagine it fraying and puffing out over time, like most synthetic fibre doll hair did. I already have a few strands out of place that won't go back to their position. Static really seems to adversely affect this fibre. I'm just hoping it holds up over the years, but do think sculpted hair would have worked fine. Maybe sculpting a bob haircut style isn't EXO-6 strength, and if they tried it would have turned into a helmet head, sort of like their Janeway figure.

If you use some hair product that will keep hold the shape of the hair and control those stubborn strands.

I do think if the hair had been entirely sculpted it wouldn't have made the sculpted eyebrows and goatee stand out so much, but it also would have severely restricted head movement, so I can understand why they didn't go that way.

Thankfully the rooted doll hair at least has the right shape to it, and isn't straight and overly stiff.

I probably would have preferred an entirely sculpted head only because I think it would have been more accurate to the character than "doll hair." Unless one takes the time and has the talent to give him the correct cut and perm, which I think would be a tall order for most folks and could end in some funky looks. And the sculpted hair would look better with the facial hair as you said. But I doubt that I will be getting this fig. so just my fart in the wind.

It's amazing how crap some of the real props are compared to some of the hobbyist things...
I mean most of it is made for low resolution, blurry TVs. Even looking close to that DS9 model and it's so... imperfect...

I actually would say I'm not impressed by a lot of it. But I'm not someone who would attach any more personal value to anything if it was used in a movie, had autographs, etc. I want the things in my hands and to look and feel the part as close as possible. I want to be fooled into thinking it's real.

From Nanjins Wastebook There are 5 phases for 1/6 Star Trek. We have completed the first 3 and onto Phase 4 since ENT Hoshi pre-order.
In Phase 4, we will be offering characters/figures that have very limited audiences.
DO NOT bad mouth about these characters/figures because without them, twok and TOS will die in mid-way.
We must prevent this from happening. My only solution is to produce these less than ideal demand figures.
Giving up Trek will become harder and harder to resist in the next 2 years. I have foresee these difficulties years ago. They are unavoidable.
Personally speaking, the next 2 years will be the most difficult time. I have to very creative with a lot of impossible things in the eyes of 1/6 producers.
Phase 5 is to prepare my exist from EXO-6. It will begin after Sept 08, 2025.

So, I het the feeling we probably won't get TOS and TWOK...
I don't think that will happen, but it does start to give me pause about buying anything else. I don't like hearing things about lines possibly not being completed, and TOS and TWOK are all I have been waiting on. I was also just a bit put off by Shaw coming out in front of Saavik. Us TOS guys have been waiting a long while to see figures.

If Exo-6 has made it this far, it'll get through TOS & TWOK.
I bet Neelix, Paris & Discovery were very weak sales & the company's still here.
Now, if Nanjin goes as left-field as Nacelle with Preston,Jelico, Garrett & Tuvix but at $300/ea, then, yeah, we're not making it to TOS!
