That was my original point. Overall the OT has cooler characters/better actors so the exact same quality of writing for both trilogies plays differently. For the most part, anyway. Obviously the writing in scenes like Han and Leia's "scoundrel" exchange is head and shoulders above anything between Anakin and Padme but the majority of the six scripts are pretty on par with one another.
I feel that there was more freedom for improv in the OT which led to some real gems that wouldn't otherwise be there as well.
