i made the mistake of going into the armory in Megaton... the deputy bot kicked my arse. i tried to run away, but he kept following me until i had to make a stand.

So, now that I've completed all the DLC for this game, I've gotta say "New Vegas" better have a lot of different stuff cuz I've played the hell out of this game and it seems kind of boring now.

As cool as Broken Steel was, it felt like a drag, I was simply chugging my way through to the end, not exploring the areas like I did back when I first started playing the game.

i havent beat the game yet, but it is starting to get repetitive..much more so than oblivion ever did. all the hunting is making me go crazy lol. i cant stop scavenging. its my fault but i just need to know what is in every freakin box.

Save before you complete the game though! After you finish it, you have to start from scratch!

I had the same experience. I just wanted to finish the game plus all the DLC packs. Happy to say I got all 75 achievements on the XBOX 360 version.

If you download "Broken Steel", the game continues for several missions beyond the original ending and you can also continue playing after you complete it. That's the easiest fix.

For anyone who's interested, here's an easy way to get all the Karma-related achievements.

Keep in mind, the easiest way is to start with bad karma and be in Megaton, and that's what this method describes.


First, you need to create two save files once you get within 200 XP of the level which will give you the achievement (e.g. 8, 20, 30, etc.). One of these files will be your main game. The other file is the one you use for the achievements.

Use that new file to level up with bad karma. Best way to get the XP is to fast-travel to "Katelyn's Bed and Breakfast" because you'll be dropped in the midst of 7 raiders. Kill them and level up. Then immediately quit the game WITHOUT SAVING.

Reload that file, and you'll be back at the previous level with bad karma. Go to the Church of the Atom preacher near the bomb and donate to the church. Use the "Donate 100 caps" option about 4 times. You should boost up to neutral karma. Keep checking in between donations. As soon as you're "Neutral", fast-travel to the Bed and Breakfast, kill the Raiders, and level up for the Neutral Karma achievement.

Again, quit without saving and reload the file.

This time, donate like crazy to the church, and you'll have Good karma. Repeat like before.

After this, you should have all three karma-related achievements for that respective level.

Go back to your original save file (your "main game") and keep playing. When you get within 200 XP of the next achievement threshold, make the two files again, and do the exact same procedure.

Only a few hours? You haven't seen ANYTHING yet!!! The siege on the Jefferson Memorial (the climax of the game without playing the Broken Steel expansion pack) is EPIC!!!

Yeah I know there's a ^^^^ load yet to be seen. I'm actually still in the learning phase of this game, as the last RPG I played on this scale was like 5 years ago, and that was KOTOR 1

KOTOR has nothing on this game!!

I thought Knights was the most expansive RPG I'd ever seen until this came along. I logged 106 hours playing through the game and the five expansion packs, and when all was said and done I felt like I'd lived an entire lifetime in that game.

It's that engrossing!!

hey guys, I picked this up way back when it first came out...i played it for a few hours but lost interest unfortunately.

I'm not exactly sure what it was that turned me off, it's really hard to say. I remember finding it quite difficult, I'm more familiar with your standard FPS than this type of FPS RPG hybrid. Anyways, I've become more of a fan of games that are very engrossing, lengthy and deep so I want to give Fallout another try.

Is there anything I should keep in mind when starting up my new playthrough? I want to make sure I play it with the right attitude and proper expectations so I don't lose interest again because its not what I anticipated, thanks.
