When did unflinching optimism become the equivalent for logic? Sorry, I meant logic. If anyone can explain this, then maybe their opinion has a shred of validity.

He's not referring to the optimism as the logical part, he's referring to the facts I presented about the talent involved as being logical.
The only way to logically determine an opinion at this point is to look at the filmography of the talent involved as they will be the deciding factor on the quality of this movie and until we get a trailer that's the only official information we have to evaluate that relates to quality.
Unflinching optimism? No, more like common sense.
If I see this movie and its bad, then the logical thing would be for me to deem it bad. If I haven't seen it then it would be illogical to deem it bad. Championing the illogical bashing of a film IMO annuls all validity in a person's opinion.
The most popular online opinion on this movie that I keep seeing is that its cool to bash it as a way to advocate the FF reverting back to Marvel - an opinion that makes little to no sense given that its not going to happen anytime soon and I highly doubt Disney would do a better job than FOX with the property. 2013 was a bad year for Marvel Studios and FOX hasn't had a bad year since 2009. I like both companies and disagree with the notion of one being better than the other. They've both had missteps with Marvel adaptations and great successes.
Do you even know what you're talking about? Iron Man 3 and Thor Dark World may not have been perfect but they still have a good score and their box office was ridiculous. By definition they were successes.
Agreed.
And Thor TDW was just a predictable and cheap unimaginative action movie, with a boring cast for the most part, and an even more uninteresting story and villain... Not short on laughs though, but I would easily have traded all the sitcom dialogue for a truer villain and a more interesting epic story that Thor is known for in the comics.
Hopefully in Ragnarok they give us a great Thor film to close the [individual] series out. It all rests on who they hire to helm it. I'd give it to Alex Proyas.
Well good news for Ragnarok is that Chris Yost is writing it. So that makes me a little mor hopeful for it.
I'm also hopeful. Thor's movies have been good so far and fitting with the MCU but I'm hoping the next movie will be legendary. Lots of action that showcase Thor's power with little to no human and Earth interactions.
Like what?
Storytelling, acting, writing, directing ect... Indicates the level of quality of the movie.
Not including accuracy to the comic which isn't a factor in quality, what says the movie will be bad?
The screenwriters most recent movie is sitting at 92% on RT.
The directors most recent movie is sitting at 85% on RT.
The studios most recent superhero movies is sitting at 92% and it's highly praised in the fan community.
The cast seems talented and up-and-comers in Hollywood, one could even be getting an Oscar nom for a movie this year.
George lucase made the Original Star Wars trilogy.
He also made The Prequel Star Wars Trilogy.
Making something amazing in the past dosn't mean everything you ever make is gonna be great too.
the story sounds poop.
It can literaly be truncated to
" angry Reddit poster gets powers, and trolls the world"
an that.. sounds kinda dumb.
Yes, it MIGHT still be a good movie.. but this IS the same stuido that brought us X-men origins.

But there is, there really is.
I'll never understand the Pollyannas that believe everything will be good, because they often end up defending indefensible positions to save face once they're proven wrong.
There will be some strong apologists for this mess. My crystal ball has shown me.
