I don't care if he runs geeks down or not. Robert Downey, Jr. has been very derogative toward geeks in the past. Just give us a good FF movie.
So if the actor is more established its okay but if the actor is up and coming it isn't?

If fanboys are gonna act like *******s toward him the why shouldn't he treat them like *******s in return.
Except the director and actor aren't saying that. They keep talking about Trank's interracial family and this world we live in, bla bla bla. I just find that dumb. It'd be like if Peter Jackson said, "I look out my window and I see women, and I'm in a relationship with a woman, so Bilbo is female now you haterz1!!"
If you want to go make some autobiographical commentary that has nothing to do with Marvel Comics well, go make up your own characters and put them on screen.
Their whole approach just rubs me the wrong way. Marvel Comics has worked in black versions of their characters for decades; we've had a couple black Captain Americas now and even a black "Bucky" (who later became Battlestar) and I was totally cool with it. These guys are just coming across as self-righteous *********s who aren't even backing up their convictions with a decent looking movie.
Fury Road is apparently the most "feminist" action movie in history and do you know what? Miller did it without making Max a girl.
Funny how there is little talk of Deadshots race change in Suicide Squad but all the time with this
Why should he suck up to those who dismiss him in the role because of his skin colour. Would be like a woman being nice to people who call her ugly or fat.
If fanboys are gonna act like *******s toward him the why shouldn't he treat them like *******s in return. He wasn't insulting all fans, he was insulting the haters
Trank and Jordan's stance is basically why does Johnny Storm need to be white?
there's also a difference between the backlash Affleck received, people didn't want him in the role because they felt he couldn't act, people don't want MBJ in the role because he's black.
That's a valid question. I'm not against it. It's the way they are responding to that question that inclines me to say "take your mediocre looking movie and shove it."
If they had said, "this is our way of grounding this film in modern reality. Black tactical armor didn't exist in 1939 so it wouldn't have even been a thought for Bob Kane to dress Batman that way but Nolan did because he wanted to make the character more contemporary. Interracial families weren't very common in the 60's and wouldn't even have occurred to Lee and Kirby and so we thought that would be a fun angle to explore as we are re-imagining this team for the 21st Century."
That's all they had to say. Done. And then I'd get to say, "all right, let's see how that approach works." As has already been stated there have been quite a few, race, costume, and origin changes for superheroes over the years. Some have worked spectacularly and others not so much. But I don't know that I've ever seen such an unproven filmmaking team make such oft putting comments about their own take and their own fans.
I think that's just "race card" BS. A personal attack is a personal attack and the onslaught against Affleck made national news. He took it like a man. MBJ certainly has not.
This whole thing is about the guy's race though
Telling people who are on the Internet all day complaining and making disrespectful memes to go outside and have a life is actually good advice

Affleck handled things just fine but he was being attacked for his acting ability, that's a fair reason to attack the guy. Attacking someone for taking a job because of their race is whole lot worse if you ask me, and and not so easy to laugh off.

Boo freaking hoo. Seriously. Someone needs to say it. So the rich, famous, handsome (I guess, right?) black guy is taking some heat (though minimal compared to other actors like Affleck, Gadot, etc.) over playing a *white* guy in a movie where he gets to become more famous, make more millions, and live every kid's dream? Sorry, his whole "Woe is me, I guess I'm just the Martin Luther King Jr of the next generation" is kind of pathetic. Get over yourself dude.
Yeah, people are idiots and take messing with source material way too seriously, and I'll include myself in that bunch. But he isn't the first black guy to play a white hero, and if people are singling him out when they didn't Michael Clarke Duncan, SLJ, or Will Smith, well maybe he needs to take a moment and allow for the fact that his skin color isn't what is oft putting about him, as much as he'd like it to be.
But Khev is right, Trank and his actor there certainly didn't take the high road with their responses.
They did the equivalent of complaining about whiners while whining themselves.
What is that called again, oh that's right, hypocrites!
Well, he's also best buds with the most famous basement dweller of them all in Kevin SmithAffleck was the brunt of probably the single largest outpouring of internet geek hate I've ever seen. Did he tell everyone to eff off? No, he quietly went and made himself into what appears to be a completely kickass Batman. And THAT will shut everyone up.
Fantastic Four is being made because its an established comic book property at the height of comic book movie mania. The property was established by the fans and yet the idea that the fans have no right to be upset that the film doesn't resemble the comic. They are expected to take what is offered with a smile and just hand over their cash and if they object they are called racist and hateful.
Actually, it's being made because otherwise they'll lose the rights to the movies, in this time that's not the right financial choice.
The intellectual property/source material itself, was almost irrelevant, even more so before this movie (and it's subsequent hate train) was announced
Meaning: The fans weren't really there, or were very few of them, or am I wrong?
I'll still give the benefit of the doubt to this movie, but I don't like the approach of this dude, if he wanted to tell the "fans" to **** off, he should've done so, "this is an artistic choice, **** off" without justifying himself, but instead he went "**** off, SJW SJW SJW SJW iz da world we live in nao", which is neither taking the high road, nor taking a stand.
