I think Wall*E is right about that, and actually thought the Mojo-verse characters in X-Men were a potentially frightening reality:

They don't have spines at all. Their society is completely dominated by entertainment. Whoever comes up with the best TV shows rules.

Health care reform has already impacted tax dollars and is costing Americans big time bucks. People don't want to be responsible for themselves. They want others to do the work for them. Welcome to the new USA. The land of handouts.

yeah freaking ridiculous...

The Future is almost here.

We have the iPad and fat people. Now we just need those hovering chairs.

Yeah Seriously. We are almost there.... Almost :yess:

Ridiculous, yes, but he doesn't really come off as being truly angry to me. More like he is ridiculing an angry Xbox-er.

Which is totally legit ridicule because Xbax sucks.

:monkey3:)

Some people may have medical issues causing some weight gain. However, it cannot be blamed for everything, nor the amount of fat on one person. Most excessive weight is contributed to poor diet and lack of exercise.

I'm really short at only 5' tall. You have no idea how hard it is for me to stay thin. Someone only 4" taller than me can weigh 10 or more pounds than I do but look thinner because they are longer than me. So I have to end up eating less and working out much more to be extra small, so that I don't look chubby. And you know what? I do it. It's not hard to work out and have a healthier lifestyle. Just gotta get out there and try for it.

Buffy, I'm 5' too and I feel your pain. :(

Having studied obesity and working with obese kids at school, I wish I could go into a lot of what I know, but I'm not gonna bother because I've tried before and it's lost on the haters. Being 10 or 20 pounds overweight is one thing, being obese is another and it's not all cut and dry like some seem to think.

Yeah! What you said! My taxes have gone way up since health care refor...what? Oh wait. No they haven't. Keep your tea party bull***** to yourself.!

Uh oh.....

I'd get the popcorn ready but since that can make you fat I'll just cut up some carrots........

I won't address your snarky attitude and ignorance other than what I posted above. However I would encourage you instead of listening to the politicians go out and learn about the law. I work with small to large employer groups as a consultant on Health Care.

You may not get hit with this "tax" in the traditional sense. Meaning when you file your taxes you may not see anything different. That is unless you have to pay a penalty next year for not being insured. There are all kinds of rules with that as well that I won't get into.

So how could this impact you? I'll give you two real word scenarios. First I insure an employer with about 300 employees. They received their July renewal and because of health care reform are paying almost $100,000 in taxes because of it. The insurance company must also pay a tax for insuring the group as well. Who do you think really pays for those fees? Do you believe that this is not getting put on the employees as well? This will impact future raises and available jobs.

Another example is my wife. She teaches in the public school system. They have to pay taxes as well. In fact because of obamacare two teachers were let go. Their salaries are now paying taxes and they are without jobs. My wife was almost let go as well.

I could talk and write about this for days how this will negatively impact the country. It will impact you. You just have to sift through all the crap and learn how.

Let's keep the politics out of this one if possible. If not, thread will need to be closed. Truth is, informed, thoughtful people can have divergent views on the healthcare issue (depending on which components they focus on, and how/where they think the effects will be felt, good and bad), and the costs are not yet fully understood (depends on factors we don't yet have a firm grasp over).

It's not political to discuss law is it? My scenarios above are real world examples. I didn't fabricate anything. I'm not in here saying Obama sucks although I most certainly have an opinion on that as well. :rotfl

You're filtering your answers through an ideological lens. That's not going to end well. It never does. I've tried to have and allow those kinds of discussions before, but they always end the same way.

I think that's a bit unfair. My answers and scenarios again are based off of actual renewal data obtained from and insurance carriers renewal to a client. Up here carriers are showing reform fees right on their renewals. In fact they are adding them right in and showing the break down of their rates. Scary stuff.

Truth is, folks could rattle off "objective information" the other way, as well. Look no further than CBO overall budgetary estimates of ACA vs. no ACA, which the right dismiss out of hand. It's like anything. You can selectively find data to support your argument. In any case, you've made a point, Collector has made a point. Feel free to take it to PM.

Taxing the country at 100% would be an overall budgetary boon as well, but who would buy that as something good for the economy?

Meh.
