Truth is, folks could rattle off "objective information" the other way, as well. You can selectively find data to support your argument.

good to see some out there are capable of having a truly neutral POV.
Most people that claim to have one really don't, and they have no idea they don't. They actually think they're standing in the middle when they're obviously falling over one direction or the other. Its sad to observe.... :monkey1

If that is the case, it can be done. Just like To-macco

Make sure you get your handicap plate too. You need to park close by so you can insure you stay fat.

Good point. I will make sure i can transfer from drivers seat to moto-scooter in my van so i dont take any unneeded footsteps.

I'm not for it. I'm not against it.

I don't think it's a good thing or a bad thing.

Am I doing it right?

I've only started putting on weight since my late 20s, slowly but undeniably. The metabolism isn't what it used to be and the same diet and lack of exercise I've always had is now having its negative effects.

I'm 41 and in the best shape of my life.
Consuming more calories than you use is going to have a negative effect no matter what age you are.

Socioeconomics and lack of access are contributing factors just as much as portion control and lack of exercise. Heart disease is the number one cause of death in this country and diabetes is on the rise amongst all age groups. However, if all Americans had access to preventative healthcare(i.e. routine doctor's visits) overall costs of healthcare would probably diminish somewhat. Why? Because it's a well known fact that many people in this country don't seek medical attention until it's an absolute emergency. Many can't afford the cost of an emergency room bill or an operation and the cost gets passed onto hospitals which in turn have to charge tax payers and insurance carriers more to make up the difference.

I don't see people who are eating their way into a hospital in a remotely differant light from those shooting heroine into their veins and ending up there.

Either way I don't want my money going to help get those people back on their feet so they can get another fix.

How come people that have these food addictions never get addicted to fruit and vegetables?

Ugh.

I think you're oversimplifying things a bit. Even people that are height/weight proportionate can have bad health due to diet.
Now you and me can look through the window and say, "Oh you need to stop eating so much or eating crap." Easier said than done.
A lot of people don't know how to eat healthy or don't even have access to healthy foods. Many aren't educated to the dangers of things like high fructose corn syrup or gluten or what-not.
The one way to not have to pay for "these people" is some form of access to preventative health and education. It's not the fact that they're fat or eating badly that's costing you money. It's the fact that they don't have access and the cost to treat their diseases comes too late and at too high of a cost.

Here's an interesting tidbit: Why are many fast food locations and packaging use a lot of red and yellow? Because those colors subconsciously make you hungry. The color blue does not.
Make a mental note of that next time you go out.
