I can only say that if it is too much hassle, then it shouldn't matter. I know it is a "hassle" for me at times, as I've become a "slave" to the newsletter release and have to be in front of a computer (whether at home or work) until it comes out. That means I really can't plan anything on Thursday nights or even really enjoy TV or something and have to record it to watch later. Why do I do this? Because I want to and if I really want a piece, then I am willing to make the sacrifice to do it.
As for an earlier time, I suppose they could, but Sideshow has commented that they are a US company and have to do things when their employees are at work. This limits the times they can do non-event things like the newsletter and such. Again, since they are a US company, they probably don't want to put out the newsletter during working hours because so many don't have access to a PC at work. It could be worse... we could always go back to the random newsletters that come out sometime during the day Friday so that people are chained to a computer for the entire day...
And just so everyone knows, I missed this as well because the newsletter came a lot earlier than it had been coming for the last several months, but I'm not complaining because it came after 6PM PST, which is when Sideshow has promised us newsletters will show up... anytime after 6PM PST. Now if they ever release one a lot earlier than 6 without warning, then I will cry foul along with the rest of you, but otherwise, it is as fair as it can be to everyone, because we all know to be checking for the newsletter after 6PM PST. If that means you have to stay up late, get up early, find a PC if you work the night shift, have to miss your favorite TV show, or whatever, then that is what we all do if we don't want to miss an item.
