That sound you hear, that's my credit card saying, "great, three hundred more bucks for living it up in the month of June"...

:D

Just under 6hrs left and currently at $612.00

I know the last one went for around 650 so its being consistent anyway.

And so it starts . . . I highly doubt that the fauz bronze would hold its value when the original is not bad at all. Worst case, someone can always paint the original bronze.

I don't remember if I posted this here or not . . but this is the only Bronze statue that I really like . . .

I could not order the original because I couldn't get past the fact that at a glance you will have a huge Eagle statue sitting there . .

I can't get those cheap nature style statues out of my head and I knew it would bother me . . .

The bronze paint fixes that problem for me and makes it more a piece of art and not a huge nature statue . . .

LOL . . I assume by your avatar that this dio was a dream come true for you . . . :)

Most definitely! :D

I do understand your reaction to the regular painted one appearing as a "nature" piece but to me, that idea never comes up, as the Fell Beast is right there with the eagle, embroiled in combat. The piece just oozes Middle Earth to me, as both a fan of the books and of the films.

The fell Beast, with it's dark shades of grey and black, allows the more colorful eagle to stand out in that composition, even though it's smaller in size. The Fell-Beast, even with it's huge wingspan , is balanced perfectly by the smaller attacking eagle.

In the end, when I see that piece, I can almost hear Pippin saying, "The Eagles are coming!" and feel once again that wonderful surge of hope during that scene. The regular painted one brings me back to that moment. The faux bronze piece just doesn't, for some reason.

That kind of passion is what collecting these things is all about . . .

my waitlist converted to an order--NOT!!!

My heart jumped when I saw an e-mail in my message box this morning with this title: Battle Above the Black Gate - Fell Beast vs. Eagle Diorama - Faux Bronze Wait List (#97151).

Now I know it didn't say anything about a waitlist, but I got real excited for a second--turns out its an attempt to sell me the Regular Edition (which I already have on order).

It goes like this:
Dear Lord of the Rings Collector,

We wanted to take this opportunity to e-mail you about your wait list reservation for you’re Battle Above the Black Gate – Fell Beast vs. Eagle Diorama – Faux Bronze (#97151).

Due to the immense popularity and extremely low numbered run we will not be able to fill everyone’s wait list request.

We do have a Battle Above the Black Gate – Fell Beast vs. Eagle Diorama Regular Edition (#9715) that is similar to the one that you’re on the wait list for. We are currently recalling the wait list for this item and if you are interested in this offer please follow the link below

I appreciate the thought, but what a way to shock a guy...

I never understood what the time part ment. Does that mean your WL reserve was 3 minutes and 9 seconds after the item sold out?

It is the actual time, but recorded in the time zone where the "store" servers are located, which is England, so it is GMT or UTC, one of the two.

Your example would be 3 minutes and 9 seconds after midnight in England, so the order was placed at 7:03:09 PM in the eastern time zone of the US.
