Re: my waitlist converted to an order--NOT!!!

My heart jumped when I saw an e-mail in my message box this morning with this title: Battle Above the Black Gate - Fell Beast vs. Eagle Diorama - Faux Bronze Wait List (#97151).

Now I know it didn't say anything about a waitlist, but I got real excited for a second--turns out its an attempt to sell me the Regular Edition (which I already have on order).

It goes like this:
Dear Lord of the Rings Collector,

We wanted to take this opportunity to e-mail you about your wait list reservation for you’re Battle Above the Black Gate – Fell Beast vs. Eagle Diorama – Faux Bronze (#97151).

Due to the immense popularity and extremely low numbered run we will not be able to fill everyone’s wait list request.

We do have a Battle Above the Black Gate – Fell Beast vs. Eagle Diorama Regular Edition (#9715) that is similar to the one that you’re on the wait list for. We are currently recalling the wait list for this item and if you are interested in this offer please follow the link below

I liked the ES thats about it.,. I allready have some peices limited to 50 so that novelty is not new to me. The peice is undiplayable in my scheme so in that regards I didn't want it.

I also am not a fan of Sideshows Faux bronze look.. Its more like painted a solid color and does not have a bronze appearance to me..

I'm sure I made somebodies day.. I wish I knew who it was so I could take credit for it.

I agree, Bodie.

I've seen enough Rodin including the statue garden at Stanford University to know real bronze and this just doesn't look like it, it looks like a paintjob.

I was thinking the same. IMO, It looks cheap. I wish the had gone with a more tradional authentic darker bronze look, sort of like how the weta medallions and EotR plaque are. I actually canceled Yoda/Dooku because of it...well, that and the prequels did nothing for me.

I gotta thank you guys. All this recent faux bronze bashing is making me feel better about my chances of ever getting one off the wait list.

After all, I have the regular version on order and I can only display one, right?

I have to agree with those here that mentioned it...I dislike SS bronze techniques, looks to much like poo poo paint. Im not a huge Bowen fan...but from what I have seen (and own) I prefer Bowen faux bronze techniques...

Have you seen the Drake maquette? You would swear it was real bronze! And the Doku/Yoda dio looks darn good in person as well! Most of the faux bronzes Sideshow has done, look really good in person, and very close to real bronze. IMO

Agreed....in person, the Dooku/Yoda looks incredible. I can't wait to get the Fell Beast/Eagle. I missed the DotF dio last night though

Yes, I've seen the Drake maquette and does look decent in person...they added the aged green colors nicely...but the Hellboy baby was pretty flat...the faux bronze eagle/fellbeast looks pretty flat too...at least from the pics. I guess I prefer the added colors of the bowen faux bronze...they look exactly like a csmoore real bronze.
