I voted for The Dark Knight Rises mostly because I'm more of a fan of Batman than I am the Avengers. Nothing against Avengers but Batman has always been my thing.

That said, Avengers is a close and worthy second. For me, The Dark Knight Rises isn't anywhere near Batman Begins and The Dark Knight in terms of enjoyment and quality. It has good parts, great, fantastic elements and a satisfying end but as a whole it just missed my expectations which weren't that high.

I had a very good time with Avengers, which was surprising to me. It was fun and I loved seeing the four iconic Marvel heroes stand side by side to defend the world. I may have been more emotionally invested in TDKR but I'm not going to lie, Avengers had some great "____ YEAH" moments. Hulk picking up the little puny Loki and smashing him like a rag doll. The interactions between the heroes from the bickering to working together.

I went in really not being a fan of the characters (I liked Cap and Iron Man and Spidey is my favorite) but came out a believer. I had low expectations but came out pumped.

If I wasn't into the story of Bruce Wayne/Batman I would have voted for Avengers despite not being a Marvel buff.

____ the Amazing Spider-Man. I love old web head but that movie disgusted me since it's conception. It's not awful but I just had no feelings towards it, before and after I saw the movie.

Wow. If I took the time, my post would look EXACTLY like this. Well said :clap

Now people are saying TDKR is not a superhero movie? The deeps of insanity continue to grow in this place.

I loved the Dark Knight Rises....but in the end I have to say the Avengers was a more enjoyable movie. Barely. But Robert Downey Jr and the Hulk had so many kick ass moments than it just felt like the epic comic books we had all only hoped it could even try to reach.

I was on the edge of my seat for Batman though. They almost feel like two different genres. Avengers has the luxury of lightheartedness and over-the-top characters and interactions. Batman is meant to be more realistic (although that line clearly gets murky at times). But, if they both came out on blu ray the same day I'd definitely buy Avengers first. Just more fun to watch.

I think Batman is just an overwhelmingly more popular comic book character he was going to win this poll from the get-go.

I think this was a problem for many people. I know you say your expectations weren't that high, but I said and did the same thing before seeing it. Maybe you went in expecting the second coming and you got let down?

On the first viewing I felt the same way you do, but now that I've seen it a second time the film is just as good if not better than BB and very close to TDK. Bane and Selina were perfect. The only thing I don't like is the "whole name" thing.

Not necessarily.

Avengers won a similar poll of TDK vs Avengers a few months back.

I think it says more about 'latest is greatest' mentality than anything else.
Though I personally genuinely love TDKR a lot more than Avengers (which I would rate 8.5/10, and TDKR a 9.5)

:nono That's not even what I meant, and you know that. :tap :lol

What did you mean? :lol

I suppose I shouldn't have said 'beyond the archetype'. (That's what Nolan did.) I just meant character development. He'll always be Batman, but he's a different man since he stopped using guns, or shark repellent, or before Jason Todd died, or before Damien, or getting lost in time, etc.

True that. I just have this feeling. Every poll I see about favorite superheroes, Batman always wins. Superman and Spidey usually flip for second. Wolverine usually is next. Cap and Iron Man, and even Hulk, kind of fall lower (though the counter argument to my claim is that Avengers beings in all those fans). But, hey, like I said, I was very happy with both films.

These results shouldn't shock anyone. Honestly, I'd be shocked if The Avengers (despite it IMO being far superior) to TDKR comes within 10 votes.

I voted TDKR. It just had an impact on me the other 2 did not. That also has everything to do with my love of Batman and Nolan's trilogy. But if Batman 89 or Returns would have come out this summer, I would have voted Avengers or ASM above them as they were much better movies. I loved this summer for movies!!!! Avengers was so fun (I saw it 3 times), ASM was really good (I only saw it once) and TDKR was everything I hoped for. Here's hoping next summers Iron Man 3 and Man of Steel deliver the goods.

I did vote for TDKR (yes I have a small bias to Batman) but definitely loved Avengers.

TDKR 9/10
Avengers 9/10
