ES of 1,500. Too high, IMO. These will be around for a while and will be easy to find on the secondary market for a cheaper price.

You think so, Choopie? I've never really collected any kind of prop or statue so I don't have a sense of what's a good edition size. Obviously the smaller the edition size the better, but 1500 doesn't seem that high to me. I imagine they will be able to cross over to a more mainstream buyer for this than for figures and statues, which will open up the market.

Yea so what? I don't want to wait for mine on the secondary to drop I want it now! Who cares how the high the es is, this is probably the best idol prop around for the price so far.

Is it worth a $20 savings ordering this from a dealer?
Or is there too big a risk of them messing up the gold finish...

With an ES of 1,500 I'll wait this one out and look for a deal. Price is fair, but I have a feeling it will drop on the secondary market.

I personally am willing to pay a little more for the assurance that I can exchange the piece without much trouble if there is anything wrong with it. Sideshow is pretty good about that. And sideshow gives you points that you can eventually use to buy other things, so you can take about 5% off the price to account for that. 5% isn't that much compared to what online dealers can sell this for, but like I said it's worth it to me for peace of mind.

For folks on a budget, paying full price for something may not always work out. And if something is too high of an ES and doesn't sell well on top of that that just may mean a cheaper price down the road for some who wait. Not to say that this item won't sell well, but with the way the economy is I don't expect this to fly off the shelves, and collectibles, with a few exceptions, are taking a long time to sell through, anyways. I hope I'm wrong as I want all Indy collectibles to be popular.

I'm just of the mindset that if I can save a few bucks I'll do it, even if I have to wait six months or so. The way the collectibles market is nowadays, it's just doesn't make sense for me to pay full price for items when they are readily available through reputable retailers for a discount. For example, I travel a lot, and a $50 savings equals two weeks worth of gas for my car. To me that's a big deal.

Just got my 22 day estimated arrival e-mail for the idol! I've wanted one of these for years and was never successful in obtaining a decent custom, so I'm pretty excited despite the few inaccuracies. Here's hoping the paint holds up on this thing...

Crap! I got the notice too. I'm gonna have to cancel. I just don't have the money right now, only enough for Crystal Skull Indy :(

:crying

However, the idol IS still available for pre-order. If it's still around in a couple of months then maybe I can get it then. *crosses fingers*

Hmm... Split shipment I would really not mind if mine would be the next batch. I have Legolas processing right now as well... :monkey4

This thing is pretty heavy.

Yep, they upped the weight on this. Which is good. I feared the idol would be hollow. Now, maybe not.

Looking forward to seeing in-hand photos. I don't have it on order, but maybe down the road I'll pick it up. I'm more interested in the 1/4 scale Ark.
