Since Sideshow made an obvious error when deciding to start off with polystone, then changing the media to ABS, how can the consumer be expected to pay the brunt?
I have one thing, please show me where it is written that this peice was going to be made from polystone when we all pre-ordered it. We all assumed it would be but we all know what happens when we assume. If Sideshow had not told us of the change we would never even known they planned to use polystone.

And when people received Boba plastic, there would have been a tremendous amount of returns and pissed off collectors. SS fessing up to using ABS before shipping saved them a customer service returns fiasco. They must have deliberated exactly when to break the news and waited to tell people right before Boba shipped to minimize cancellations.

And no, they never told anyone that the statue was polystone, but they never told anyone it was ABS either. They knew the media when they took orders for Boba, yet didn't disclose their secret until the last minute. Defending SS aligns you with a company that wasn't very upfront from the beginning about this long awaited statue. They should have disclosed the media BEFORE taking orders, that way people could decide whether it was worth the money or not. And the 'you could have canceled before it shipped' reply doesn't take away from the fact they weren't upfront. If it doesn't matter to you what media Boba is made of, you must have money to burn. Alot of us don't.

God help me, but I am about to do the same thing I decried Nash for doing, but I feel it must be said. First things first, I respect you Dave and I love your site. However, I am going to share my true opinion and I hope it doesn't get me Bannisterized. However, so be it either way.

You, and others - esp. JL, seemed to be telling the others that their opinion isn't valid. That Sideshow is making the same amount as on all the other PFs. That all of these complaints are based on opinions and guesses. Well, I find that hypocritical since you yourself have no way of proving that Sideshow 1.) isn't making more of a profit, 2.) did this for the reasons they stated, or 3.) really retooled in the first place. Does that mean that all of those are lies? No. But what right do any of us, whether we are dissenters or loyalists, have in telling the other side they are wrong? Unless either you can show me in the books that Sideshow is making less money, or Irish and crew can show me Sideshow made more money, its all OPINIONS. The dissenters ... at least the majority ... are stating this situation that way. Why not show them the same respect?

I have said in the past that a collectible is worth what someone is willing to spend. That means if someone feels it is overpriced, IT IS TO THEM. Arguing it and telling them they are wrong isn't going to change their mind, any less that it would change your mind. I am not willing to spend 350 dollars on this item. Of course in all fairness, I wouldn't have spent that amount even if it was poly. But many here were swayed by that fact. So respect their opinions. If you do not feel cheated/ overcharged, then fine. That is your opinion. And that's all that matters ... everyone's personal opinions.

Yeah, what he said.

If they were using thin, cheap and nasty looking fabrics for the clothing... then I could understand people's complaints, as that is what you see when you look at it.

But to complain about the material they use, when you never, ever see it.... is just..... I just don't get it lol

When did they say that they knew they planned to use ABS before taking orders? Wow another great assumtion. You seem very good at that. Sorry I am not pro-SS or anti-SS, I am realistic. I things as they are. If they said it was was poly then changed it then there is an issue. Since they didn't say means that they did not do a bait and switch as many people belive they did. I got something that looks like what I ordered, and since I never undressed it, held it etc.. before I ordered it, its the same as what I expected. If you feel that they were trying to hide something make sure you read everything very carefully and if you don't feel they tell you everything then make sure you ask before you order it. If you don't you have no room to complain. Sorry thats the way it works in the real world. I have never seem so much *****ing about something that they assumed.

If you find what I am saying as pro-SS sorry, but if that is the fact then I understand a lot of the problem.

This is one debate I really can't wait to see end. Not because I don't think people shoudl not share their opinions, but it's a dead horse at this point.

If you like it keep it.

If you don't like it send it back or don't order it.

I'm not a big Fett guy, so it's easy for me to say this plastic thing is BS, but I kind of know, deepr down, if it was Vader or Jedi Luke or Palpatine... I would buy it and not care as long as it looked good. I'm a sucker like that though.

Right, there have been assumptions from the get go that SS was working us over. When there was no proof that the cost to make it this was was cheaper for them. Granted there is no 110% proof that it didn't but if they had to change things midstream, and then have a machine built for the process that leads me to believe the cost was more. Also in the end as long as it looks good on display why does what the body is made out of make any real difference? I could see if it was like the Darkness PF since you see that but on any of the LOTR or SW ones we won't be seeing the body.

Because you can't see underneath the clothing, people shouldn't mind? There is just so much wrong with that philosophy, I can't even begin to tell you. How about the cheap plastic boxes on Boba's belt? Surely they could have done better with at least that.

I'm pro common sense. WHY wasn't the media they were using mentioned in the product description from the beginning? Just like every other PF made to date? When you can use your common sense to figure that one out, reply with something tangible instead of complaining that people are assuming these gripes, like they don't exist. These are REAL WORLD questions that were never answered by you or the team at Sideshow.

But this one goes to 11.

I wish it were that simple. This PF statue may set a trend that none of us would care to deal with ever again. If we didn't like SS products, we would do exactly like you suggested.

But it is that simple. They already said the Maul PF will be back to pollystone. No word on future armored PF's, but just assume they will be ABS. Either buy it or don't. If I like how it looks I'll buy it. I am happy with Fett now that I have him in hand. I was not happy about the ABS situation either, but I had the choice to buy or not to buy. I bought and am happy. If Iwasn't I;d send it back.

Complaining endlessly about won't change anything.

Okay, part of me wants to agree with you Kit. On the one hand, I am getting sick and damn tired of the arguing from both sides. However, I don't like this part:

Sideshow has always positioned themselves as a "Company of the collector, by the collector, and for the collector." If what you say turned out to be true, I would begin to regret my many purchases from them. I supported them because of this attitude and would hate to see that it was all based on a lie.
However, I do not believe that complaining is useless. SSC has people to monitor these threads. The arguing shows them that many were not happy with the way this issue was handled. I promise you that next time a plastic body is used, it will be announced on the product page in advance. Even if all this arguing only accomplishes that small feat (Fett? sorry, couldn't resist, back to serious), it was worth putting up with the *****ing.

Douglas,

My point about complaining endlessly is that I am pretty sure that SS is now well aware of the opinions on the Fett ABS situation. A few of their employees post here or at least lurk. I am sure the feedback has gotten to the proper people by now.

I am also sure there were enough canceled to catch their attention.

I am glad people voiced their opinion and displeasure. I voiced mine as well about this situation.

I just think that's it's a dead horse now. EVERYONE including SS knows how people felt about this. Fett is ABS....period. THAT is what won't change. SS knows how we felt and they either will or won't listen, but they know by now.

I dont think Kit is saying DONT complain, I think he is just saying stop beating the dead horse, its turning to glue. Some people have more or less let it go (Irish.. I think :lol ) while others are intent to not let the issue die. By now SS has heard the complaints, so I would say that now its just b****ing for b****ings sake.

My post is staying.. but Kit beat me to it. lol

I'm not saying your wrong on that point because I don't know one way or another, so my question is, does anyone know for certain that it didn't say anything about being made of polystone from the begining as opposed to them just changing the description after they knew it was going to be ABS?

Dang, that was one heck of a run on sentence.
