Why did Mexico do so badly in the qualifiers?
I mean, you guys won gold at the Olympics, beating Brazil... I don't underestimate the mexican team, it's just that the Netherlands is powerhouse right now.

Yup, the Netherlands are in full force.

Well, yeah, Mexico did horribly bad in qualifiers, partly cause the bad player roster and bad management and partly because CONCAC AF has been getting tougher by the year.

Mexico's place in the WC was decided by an USA match, depending on the result of that match Mexico could qualify or not (I don't remember the details), in fact the only reason Mexico's in the WC is because of the US :lol which is embarrassing for the rivalry.

I remember the details. USA vs Pan we had nothing to play for we were locked in. We scored in the 91st minute to tie and in the 93rd to win thus putting Mexico into the WC.

Now onto USA vs Belgium. I like our chances, I think the USA has shown good quality over the 3 group games. I think talent wise Belgium is superior but team wise USA is stronger.....plus we have Timmy in net!

2-1 USA

If it could have been said at the beginning of this tournament that one team would have a player that would bite another player, and then have the football association of that country, its media and, apparently, a large number of their fans, rail with indignation at the piddling penalty handed to him... 9 out of 10 people would've guessed Uruguay.

I agree with pretty much all of those predictions :) ...except I'm wondering whether the Belgians will finally start living up to their pre-tournament hype. They haven't had to work as hard as the US.

Pretty impressive near knockout for a dude wearing those socks. :lol

A friend of mine was telling me that someone he works with told him that her husband put a bet on before the tournament that Suarez would bite someone during the World Cup and he won a grand :lol

Of the games coming up Holland and Mexico is the one I'm most intrested in. I would like Holland to win the whole thing but on the other hand it'd be worth seeing Mexico win because the reaction from their coach would be epic.

They might lose because you never know, but Belgium is far better than the US. That's obvious.

Belgium have some great players. I just dont see a team there.

The team that has impressed me is Columbia.

As we move on to the knockout stage there is always the chance of penalty shootouts. I personally am not a fan of them. I don't think that it's fair way to end the game, but right now it's the only way to do so. Do you enjoy them, are you a fan of penalties? What are your thoughts to an alternative to determine a tie? I think that maybe shooting corners would be better.

I feel they are needed. I mean they have played 2 hours so far plus with the limit on subs you can't expect 7 of those field playes to just keep playing. Sure other sports (hockey) just keep going but they have much more time to rest as they keep changing lines.
