With Thiago Silva out,Brasil will have a hard time against the Germans.
Neymar will be back.We all know how low his pain threshold is and he loves to show off.

Neymar wasn't faking that one, that was a very serious hit that can very well cripple a man, let alone someone as skinny as Neymar, a knee right to the spine, damn, Záñiga was a pig, he deserved the red card for that one.

lol.. I'd love to see what people had to say after United's grand finish last season.

As a United fan I'll say last season had been coming for a few years largely due to the neglect by Fergie and the owners when it came to the squad. Several older and consistently underachieving players including Rooney should have been moved on, and some of the youngsters that came through in the latter years of Fergie's reign should never have gotten near the first team at a non league side, let alone United's.

But it's also a fact that David Moyes was never remotely qualified to manage a club of United's stature and although it'll never be admitted publically it's likely he only got the job due to Fergie's friendship with David Moyes Sr.

That he turned a side of serial winners into a laughing stock as quickly as he did is probably an achievement in itself, but not one that was good for his long term employment prospects.

It is now history. Over and done with.

Louis Van Gaal forged a great reputation with his Ajax side of the mid-late 90's and laid the first foundations for the hugely successful Barcelona and Bayern Munich sides of recent years. He may arrive at Old Trafford having just won a World Cup.

In short, he has "it".

Now the Glazers have finally allowed the clubs vast profits to be invested on new players instead of creaming it all off to feed their other businesses United are already making big strides towards rebuilding the squad. £38 million on Juan Mata in January and in the region of £60 million to get Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw. It doesn't seem likely the spending will stop there.

It might take a season or two to fully integrate new players and restore the confidence that Moyes methods shattered but United will bounce back one way or the other. If it means spending £200 million to speed up the process then so be it, money always talks and United are still one of the richest teams on the planet.

Back to the World Cup, I was pleased to see David Luiz score such a great goal, he's prone to making silly errors at times but he always plays his heart out and seems to be that rare breed in modern football in that he's a genuinely nice guy.

If Holland don't win the World Cup, then I hope Brazil win it.

Brazil are going to luck there way to the Final and then win it aren't they? :exactly:

First half wasn't luck though, they dominated most of it.

Second half, not so much.

This one could have been the worst match of the cup so far.

They played horrible, both teams.

First half Brasil played well, then all down hill from there.

He didn't even receive a foul for that, crazy!

Colombia played very dirty.

Yeah they did, I just read online that Neymar will miss the rest of the WC, he's out for at least 3 weeks.

I have to say, he lucked out, the spine is a very delicate area.

Edit: Damn, fractured vertebrae, eeesh, he won't need surgery but damn.

I totally agree.. Fergie is the one who actually started this madness.. he made sure that when he goes out, United is in tatters. He always played favorites. His ill treatment of certain lads (I don't wanna name them) and frequent selection of lesser players (his boys) is no secret. Paul Pogba, everybody knew he was a great talent, yet thanks to Fergie, United let him go.
I was a little boy and I vaguely remember United winning their last Treble. That was a formidable team. However, as you said, him and the owners did nothing to build up a strong United squad. They needed a couple good youth players to replace the back 4. However, that was totally ignored. I was appalled to see United's squad last season. Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Carrick, Fletcher all have been great stalwarts.. but they're past their prime and should have been limited to the Subs bench with the chance to provide the occasional heroics. The funds after the sale of Ronaldo (biggest transfer back them) were never utilized. On the other hand, Chelsea and Man city, funded by their rich Russian and Arab owners kept investing and hence, are reaping the fruits. I agree United has never been a big spending team, they usually look for "great" bargains or invest in the youth and make them "Great". Still, they should have had one eye on the future.
But yes, things are looking up. The owners have loosened the purse, which is great news. I don't believe Herrera and Shaw are worth 60 Mil. I was shocked to be honest. But I see what they're going for, Shaw for Evra and Herrera for the midfield. Which is alright in my book.
Moreover, Vidal may be joining United and a couple other good transfers rumors. I'm expecting good things from Van Gaal.

Back to the cup, I hope Brazil gets the better of Germany in the next and goes down in the finals. Dang I'm probably asking for too much.

I feel bad for making fun of Neymar, thinking he was faking it. I didn't' think the tackle was that serious but the vertebrae is very dangerous area...one right hit and you can be screwed. Glad he'll be able to recover in a few weeks.

I read that now that he is out so yeah he wasn't faking it then. The way Neymar always screams in pain on the field it's easy to think that he made it look worse than it was which is normal when it comes to him, same with 20% of all soccer players today.

Thiago Silva and Neymar out is bad news for Brazil.Even though Dante is no Thiago Silva,he is a good replacement, but no one can take Neymar's place.Willian and Ramires would be Scolari's best choices.
