I feel bad for making fun of Neymar, thinking he was faking it. I didn't' think the tackle was that serious but the vertebrae is very dangerous area...one right hit and you can be screwed. Glad he'll be able to recover in a few weeks.

Me too.. I thought that was another time wasting strategy utilized by the Brazilians.

I read that now that he is out so yeah he wasn't faking it then. The way Neymar always screams in pain on the field it's easy to think that he made it look worse than it was which is normal when it comes to him, same with 20% of all soccer players today.

Thiago Silva and Neymar out is bad news for Brazil.Even though Dante is no Thiago Silva,he is a good replacement, but no one can take Neymar's place.Willian and Ramires would be Scolari's best choices.

20% I'd say 70% or more, fake half the fouls committed to them, it's a vicious cycle because in this day and age, sometimes the refs won't call the foul unless they see a big fuzz about it, and on the other side of that toke, they won't punish the fakers.

I can't blame anyone for thinking he was faking it, the guy's earned a reputation and screams like he's been shot every time someone touches him. :lol

But immediately after seeing the replay I saw how bad the foul was

haha that's Robben for ya!

Neymar is not a typical diver like Robben is though.Which is why everything about Robben is so damn annoying.Shame really because he is one of the best wingers in the world today.I bet he would cost Costa Rica a possible victory today too.

It is like you say,the referees play along and it has become a habit that works every single time. The problem is not the players, but Fifa and the referees. They need to change the rules.

I totally agree.. Fergie is the one who actually started this madness.. he made sure that when he goes out, United is in tatters. He always played favorites. His ill treatment of certain lads (I don't wanna name them) and frequent selection of lesser players (his boys) is no secret. Paul Pogba, everybody knew he was a great talent, yet thanks to Fergie, United let him go.
I was a little boy and I vaguely remember United winning their last Treble. That was a formidable team. However, as you said, him and the owners did nothing to build up a strong United squad. They needed a couple good youth players to replace the back 4. However, that was totally ignored. I was appalled to see United's squad last season. Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Carrick, Fletcher all have been great stalwarts.. but they're past their prime and should have been limited to the Subs bench with the chance to provide the occasional heroics. The funds after the sale of Ronaldo (biggest transfer back them) were never utilized. On the other hand, Chelsea and Man city, funded by their rich Russian and Arab owners kept investing and hence, are reaping the fruits. I agree United has never been a big spending team, they usually look for "great" bargains or invest in the youth and make them "Great". Still, they should have had one eye on the future.
But yes, things are looking up. The owners have loosened the purse, which is great news. I don't believe Herrera and Shaw are worth 60 Mil. I was shocked to be honest. But I see what they're going for, Shaw for Evra and Herrera for the midfield. Which is alright in my book.
Moreover, Vidal may be joining United and a couple other good transfers rumors. I'm expecting good things from Van Gaal.

Back to the cup, I hope Brazil gets the better of Germany in the next and goes down in the finals. Dang I'm probably asking for too much.

The years immediately following the Treble win of '99 weren't so bad, the real decline started around the time Ronaldo left, that £80 million should have been reinvested on the squad but it never happened and that, along with a few dubious signings ultimately lead to the problems of last season. Fergie was able to keep them punching above their weight for a while because he was second to none as a motivator but I think he went out as a champion knowing full well the squad was shot and at his age he didn't fancy the task of rebuilding.

£30 million for Shaw was ridiculous but clubs are going to take advantage of United because they know they're desperately in need of players and overcharge and in the case of the bigger names the lack of European football means the only way they'll get them is by offering silly money in terms of wages. Not an ideal situation, but they either spend now, or risk falling further behind the likes of City and Chelsea.

The Vidal rumor is an intresting one, I really liked what I saw of him for Chile in the World Cup, he looks exactly the sort of midfield battler United have lacked since Roy Keane and think if they offered cash and Nani, who Juventus have been previously linked with they'd be in with a good shout of getting him.

Unsuprisingly there's also been a LOT of Dutch players linked with a move to join Van Gaal. Robben would be top of my list due to his partnership with Van Perise but I also think Memphis Depay and Daley Blind would be good additions and once he's fit again Roma's Kevin Strootman would be another good option.

It's an intresting time, and one that can be looked upon with much more optimism than if Moyes had been given another season.

I would like Belgium spring a suprise and beat Argentina in the first of today's games.

No prizes for guessing who I want to win the other game, I think Holland have to be careful of any complacency as Costa Rica have been the suprise team so far.

the irony there was the refs didnt award the deserving and plays along with the theatrics.lolz
that colombia vs brazil game was like a wtf game. fouls and flop dives.lolz

a reminder, before das nederlands send costa rica home. :lol

Silva's foul against Colombian's goalie has to be one of the most stupid things I have ever seen from any player in a WC game.

From a Captain no less, what an ass.

Its crazy how many fouls Brazil committed. Poor James Rodriguez got the worst end of it. He fouled a crazy amount. Very talented kid though. He'll go far.

Can anyone tell me what this says? Very curious to see what Luiz and Dani Alves were telling Rodrigez?

None of those are true, it's just a joke.

They were basically telling him that he's young and that he'll go far. That's according to ESPN.

Colombia got everything they deserved, there were fouls not even counted against them.

A team that has no problems putting a person in the hospital, good riddance.
