Precisely, whenever I say soccer is to avoid misunderstandings.
american football should be called "Handball". it suck and I hate it. but everyone says soccer to avoid dumb misunderstandings with people thinking you are talking about one instead of the other
But handball is that game you play with the little rubber ball against a large wall.
And thank god there are no Vuvuzelas in this WC
Man were those maddening sounds of the devil
Yeah, that made no sense.
I'm still laughing at Col putting his foot in his mouth
I was agreeing with you Roc
You cant go calling Football "Handball" because there is already another game called "Handball"
So there's a double meaning for Handball too?But handball is that game you play with the little rubber ball against a large wall.
Wha?!I'm still laughing at Col putting his foot in his mouth
hope USA Wins! (hopefully no more autogoals)
Would seem so...

We don't actually use the word though...Ever!
Wouldn't 'Football' in America refer to American Football and in Australia Ozzy rules?
but football already existed and they stole it. real football is Older than american football, the entire world plays football. America deserves to have two sports named handball lol
I know this is a dumb rant but ive always hated this, seems so arrogant.
You do realise you're talking about a nation that calls their domestic baseball competition a 'World Series'
Classic! You do realise you're talking about a nation that calls their domestic baseball competition a 'World Series'
I hope they go down like a sack of potatoes. Go Ghana!
Australia has four football codes: Rugby, Rugby League, Australian Rules and... soccer. It's only the hardcore purists who argue that 'soccer' should be called 'football'.

Actually, that isn't really correct either. It isn't entirely a domestic league. Canada has some teams involved as well. Montreal Expos? Toronto Blue Jays?
