Yup, apparently so, good thing that the Mexican federation told them there's really nothing they can do, were the seriously hoping they would stop hundreds or thousands of fans yelling? and it's not only a Mexican thing anymore, I believe it caught up on other countries as well.

I've even heard it in some Bundesliga matches.

Bruce Arena was derisory of the Australians in 2006, saying they were 'just making up the numbers' - before his squad lost to Ghana and crashed out at the group stage while the Aussies progressed. For me it's about the spirit in which the game is played - I appreciate the way the USA and English play their football. Unlike say, many South American countries, where winning so often comes at the expense of fair play and dignity.

That's the thing with Latin-american Spanish, depending on the context it can have a thousand meanings, we have a **** ton of double entendre here, we use the P word for a lot of situations, and one of those situations could be equivalent to the word "f@g", but it's not the case at all in a football match, the use of the P word when the goalie clears the ball could be equivalent to either a-hole, beach or ****er.

Well the sensor also picks up **** and it's just dooty.

yeah, it is completely a curse word, at least in countries like colombia or Ecuador goes. It is a bad word. BUT it has nothing homophobic about it, or racist. which is why I don't get why FIFA is saying that it is.

They are lying for some reason, I don't know why they are not just saying "This is a curse word, a bad word and we don't want that" but instead they are making it an issue of hate speech. which it clearly isn't. The word is not a word used against only a certain type of people.
