Sorry to hear that about your Ma. I hope all goes well. Good to see you post again Les and hopefully you'll get your computer up and running without spending a fortune.

Sorry to hear about all of this Les , were always praying for you over here. Hang in there bro.

In order to dump everything and start over you will want to do a system restore.
I'm not 100% sure on how to do it though , maybe someone else can spread some light on this ?.

Dependant on which system your using (year old dell im guessing vista) then best bet might be to do a system restore and if a restore point exists roll it back to a point in time where it was working trouble free

Youll essentially time travel the PC so it will think that the days between now and the system restore point never happened and as such that data will be lost.

So anything important in that period back it up and print it off (careful not to backup a virus in the process)

Then follow these instructions :

https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/

Hope things ease up with your mom les, and she finds some rest from all of this,

same applies to you and your family,

Thinking of you and wishing you and yours well

Jase

So sad to hear these news Les.
Whatever's in store for your mother, hopefully it's all for the best.

Take care dude.

Les, thanks for the update. Yourself and your mother are in my continued prayers. There is light at the end of the tunnle and I hope that may give you some comfort.

Les,

It's great to hear from you again. But I'm really sorry to hear about your mom. We'll include you both in our prayers.

Regarding your computer, if you suspect a virus, try running TrendMicro's free online scan: https://housecall.trendmicro.com/

To back up your data, I'd suggest investing in one of those external USB hard drives. The benefits you get from owning one really outweighs the cost.

I also suggest that if you decide to reformat your drive(s) and reinstall everything, that you create at least 2 partitions on your hard disk. The primary partition could be just 20GB - just enough to house the operating system and program files with some room to spare. The second partition (which is bigger) will house all your work and other data. This way, if ever you should need to re-install the o.s. again the future, you won't need to worry about reformatting the data drive.

Hope this helps, somehow.

Take care man.

Great to hear from you Les.
My prayers are with you and your family.

And a big thanks to Sean and Josh for checking up on you for the rest of us. You guys are amazing, what else can I say?

Hi Les. My prayers continue for your and your family. I thought I've had a tough year, but it is nothing compared to yours. Here's to hoping and praying that 2009 will be MUCH better for you.

Again, you always have my support. I'm always an e-mail or phone call away my friend! :D

My prayers continue to be with you and especially your Mom Les. Take care of her and don't worry about painting at all. If it helps you cope, then go ahead, but don't feel you have to. We all know what you are going through and completely understand. You really should be nominated to become a saint.

Hi Les. Just a suggestion. Hope it helps.

You might want to keep future word documents, pics and impt files on a thumbdrive as backup.

That way when ur system goes down, the only pain is in reinstalling. No pain of lost documents.

Hang in there mate,

james.

Thanks so much guys.
Back at the library again. Just wanted to check in and say hi.

Yesterday was a continuation of the day before. Night before last, I couldn't even sleep, and around 3am, I went and checked on my sister, who was staying with us, and she was up too, so we just up and drove to see Ma again at 3:30am. I couldn't bear the thought of her alone in that hospital 45 miles away.
So we went. We saw the doctor, and were not impressed with him, he is not her regular doctor, but the nursing staff at the hospital was excellent, so we stayed till noon, and I came back home and crashed yesterday from no sleep in a couple days. My sister went back, and is staying in that town now.
Ma's sister and her daughter are visiting now, so I have a day off.
Ma is a bit incoherent, and is still not well. She did eat after about three days not eating, and is getting a little better. But, she is in bad shape. My sister is thinking about taking her up to the Atlanta area, so she can take better care of her than we can down here. I will miss access to her, but I want the best for her overall.
This has been one adjustment after another year for me. I just wish it would settle down some.

I am going to look into my computer ills today some, and if all fails, I may have to ship it off and use these for a while. I will try though. If I log in from home again, I will let everyone know. I HATE not being able to access online from home. Makes me feel naked.

Anyway, thanks and look for updates when I can.

Les

PS: Many little heads getting paint here and there. Look for news on them soon guys. Thanks for your infinate patience with me during all this. Just remember I never saw all this coming.

Oh, and I am still casting up Superman heads, so email me for those. Thanks to all who have ordered one or more. And I will have news on a new schedule soon. Having to revamp my timeline a bit, but still will have all work done in '08. NO EXCEPTIONS! (I will be working hard to see to this)

Thanks all.
