Agreed.

You know though, for the time, McFarlane toys were so above and beyond what we were used to. I didn't have the knowledge of companies like Sideshow or Hot Toys, etc, so McFarlane was pretty great compared to a company like Toy Biz or someone.

I think there are quite a few people that could repeat the same story as you. I know I can...got 2 totes of McFarlane figures currently in my garage. MIB and I can't move them for even $.99 on Ebay.

I seem to have a very different story. I started my collection on Star Wars Micro machines, moved up to the Kenner/Hasbro line, roundabout 2001 I also started buying McFarlane figures but then they stopped making anything interesting. While still buying Star wars toys I started on Hot Toys and persist at both of those now. However last year NECA came out with a must-have T2 line and will continue that this year along with cool new Predator figures. So moving on to a high end has not stopped me going back down and buying low end by any means. I am loving those low-end figures still...as long as they're licences I'm interested in.

I purchased a giant vintage toy estate collection at the end of last year and the 2 things I refused to take were McFarlane figs and anything Toy Biz pre-Legends. Worth less than McDonald premiums. $.99 on ebay? You'd be lucky to get $.99 at a flea market.

Most of the SS SW figures. They just are not that good. (except for a few of the older ones, and the newer ones are getting better)

But i sold most of them and kept the best of the bunch.

That's pretty much EXACTLY what's going to happen to mine. We're having a garage sale in a couple months and they are all being put out in a bargain bin for $.99 a piece.

If they don't sell there I'm ripping them all open and posting them on Ebay as a loose lot. Sometimes loose, international customer will buy them probably due to the reduced shipping cost.

Lastly, if that doesn't work, I'm either donating them to Goodwill or planning on going out at night and leaving random figures on peoples doorsteps in my neighborhood.

Kind of like the travelling troll thing, but more of a creepy/devilish vibe.
:devil

I'm with you on this. Since starting collecting 1:6 I've been looking a lot into anyone making SW figures. So far I've only purchased a Darth Vader and I really like that figure.

However the rest, I just can't get into them. Might pick up a Stormtrooper and I'll keep watching for a Snowtrooper and a Boba Fett but Sideshow needs to elevate their game (seems like they are a little currently) before I'm going to jump aboard. The sad thing is they would have to revisit a few of their figures to make me happy though as those are classic ones I would want.

Sideshow Snake Eyes for me.

Was JACKED to get that figure and I had a few doubts here and there from the pics ahead of time but I think I wanted a nice 12" SE's so much that I figured it was all proto stuff.

Got the figure, tried to love it, packaged it back up and dropped it on Ebay to a guy in Amsterdam about 6 days after receiving it.

I still go back and look at the pics on here or on Sideshow's site but I just can't bring myself to like this figure. I have high hopes that they can get the next one correct. I would like them to do something bold like a Resolute SE's but I believe we'll get the Commando version (which if they fix I will buy) or the two knives on the chest version.

What didn't you like about this figure?

For me Transformer movie 2007 figures which I've sold, I think I have one Optimus Prime Leader Class MIB and that's it.... glad I got them off of me!

O and baseball cards...

Well that would have been my first 1:6 figure as at the time I collected G.I. Joe 25th Anniversary. Like I said I was JACKED so maybe I pumped him up in my head too much.

When I got the figure everything just kind of snowballed for me. The body was loose, one of the ammo belts ripped when trying to put an ammo clip in it, the visor seemed "off" and the body was skinnier than I would have prefered. I also had no idea that you had to work with some of these types of figures out of the box so all the straps that needed adjusting and so forth were really annoying, at the time.

I know regarding the body issue that people have changed them and I suppose I could have done that. He does look a lot better that way. I'm just pretty new to all of this stuff so for me that seemed like a where do I even begin moment.

I have a lot to learn still compared to most of you guys/gals on here about these collectibles but I'm getting there. Like last night I switched my Blade out of the coat and into his other coat and holsters and had a great time doing so. I'm also learning more about what to look for and which companies I like.

So far, the Sideshow stuff in 1:6 leaves something to be desired IMO. There are some cool things (love my Darth) but there seems to be quite a few pieces I would be disappointed with like the SE's if I bought them. Not nixxing them all together, just proceeding with caution. I love their PFF's though!

Sad as it is to say, I'm kind of beginning to regret getting the Medicom Croc Cap Snake. I liked him a lot at first, and I really knew what I was getting into, but now that I've displayed him next to some Hot Toys figures. . .damn. He just looks so cheap and out of place. Given the price, it is kind of a bummer. Nice thing about that though, is that I don't think he'll be losing much value in the near future. Particularly when Medicom re-releases the other Snakes, and people start clamoring for this one to complete their set :D

Sounds like you kinda did most of that to yourself. I'll give you the point on the body (despite being a measly $17 to replace). But the rest of it you'd have to own. Had you tapped into the resources available in this very forum, you would've enjoyed him a LOT more.

Swapped my Zombie Snake over to a TT. Made all the difference. ;)

Oh yeah, I agree, and I was admitting that. Still, I regretted buying him and now that I'm diving in fully with this type of collecting I've gone back and looked at him quite a few times.

I still just have a hang up about the figure but was starting to think I would just do it and then start hitting the forums on how to correct the body, etc. Then Sideshow mentioned a new SE's and said something about the body issue so right now I'm going to sit tight and see what they come up with.

I'm kind of hoping it's SE's from the Resolute cartoon but I think that's a stretch.

Should you ever change your mind, PM me and I'll help ya. A simple body swap is all he needs really.

As for Resolute, no. If we're gonna see a redo of Snake Eyes, it'd have to be the V1 (with an ass load updated gear to make him worth the $$$). While a Resolute would be cool, not only would he be an easy bash from V1, but his release before a V1 would upset a bunch of the more hardcore Joe collectors.

The problem with Snake figure goes beyond the body type, though. Less so with the skull face version you have (because it is supposed to be painted), but the paint on the flesh-colored heads is almost never realistic with Medicom's figures. The beard isn't painted on very well, the eyes don't look that great, and the skin tone makes it look like he's never been in the sun (which, admittedly, is better than the spray-on-tan look they gave to the Cold War version). Same for the sloppy paint job on his pale hands.

If I had more RAH figures I could pose him next to, it would be less of an issue. Maybe I'll stick my forthcoming Kaneda figure next to him on a separate shelf, try not to compare them with my others, and it won't seem so bad. Before moving him next to my Dutch figure, he seemed fine. It is all relative. But still, a pricey figure for something so far below figures priced 1/3 as much, quality wise.

That's what I think we're getting but I wonder, do you think they might surprise everyone and throw out v3 of him with the silver knives?

Kind of more of a change to just pumping out an all black SE's with a different head and a satchel charge (like the old 3 3/4 fig) so maybe they think it would interest more people. Then again, it's not as popular a version of him compared to the original.

What do you think?

Also, if they do the original version do you think they going to make an exclusive version of him with Timber? I guess from the standpoint of trying to make him different then the first one they did it would be a nice accessory.

Well old school SE didn't come with Timber but it would be cool if they did, then I would just add it to the 85 version of SSC but they already have Timber with the environment as well, we might not see him again... :dunno

Also I can see another Cobra Commander (Classic) before with get a third variant on SE, again a lot of Joe fans would be angry that they have three variations of SE :lol

If they release the butterfly knives version, he will rot on their website... just watch ;). At this point, they've already released the most popular version so anything other than the V1 wouldn't sell nearly as well (disclaimer: unless he's a ridiculously low ES'd Con Ex). They won't do Timber again either as they used him to sell an otherwise useless $130 chunk of wall.

Possibly cooler than Snake Eyes, character-wise :monkey1

Well yes and no. Yes, he didn't come with the original figure. No, he WAS in the cartoon and first appeared there with SE's in his original costume so it would fit.

That just really irked me when they didn't make him with the original SS SE's and then a few weeks later showed him with the environment. That punch dagger was so lame as the exclusive and Timber just would have made absolute sense there.

Yeah a chrome dome version of CC would be one I would have to seriously think about. Have always liked that version a lot more than the hooded one.

Yeah I've never fully cared for the knife version myself. Like it, but I wouldn't buy a Sideshow one. Just wondered what your opinion was.

So we're just a little off topic now huh? Well since this is the regret thread, can it be what we think we would have regretted?

If so, man I was really close to purchasing those Sideshow Han and Luke as Stormtroopers. After reading online how many people got crappy ones I got scared away. Anyone else?
