I'm more than happy with my generation 1 PSP, so I won't be upgrading in the future.

On a side note, what ever happened to the dual analog controls that Sony promised?

The dual analog was nixed a long while ago. I bet they are saving it for their new handheld they'll probably release in a couple of years and say "it isn't a replacement for the PSP 3000 or the PSP Go". Bollocks.

I don't either. They say it isn't a PSP replacement but I can't see what else it could be...

It's just like what Nintendo does with the DS and it's multiple iterations. Why is it so hard to understand with the PSP Go? Why does it even need a reason to exist when Apple continously puts out different versions of the same basic iPod?

At the most basic level, the PSP Go exists because it is smaller, lighter, and has on-board memory. That's more than enough reason for an iterative update of currently existing hardware and is a practice that's been in the electronics industry for the last half century.

Ignore the haters and trolls. Some fanboys will spit on everything SONY does, or anything dealing with the PSP. The PSP is far superior to the DS in every way, shape, and form. And sometimes they just want spew filth from their mouths about a system that hasn't even seen the light of day yet.

They're not haters or trolls, they just don't understand what makes this PSP Go different from the previous version, which is what I'm not understanding. I thought it'd be crystal clear.

Exactly, just hating on because they can. Thus haters and trolls. PSP gets kicked when it's down, now that this new impressive model is coming out, which from what I've seen looks to be the best handheld ever made thus far...all they can do is critique it.

It's a welcomed upgrade, and is definitely going to breathe new life in the PSP.

I don't hate the PSP at all, in fact, right now if I were to get a handheld I'd get the PSP, but I don't see a purpose for the PSP GO. Unless it has more speed for better games, or something radically different it's not worth making. It just seems like a slightly different version of what already exists.

So is the PS2 slim, Gameboy Pocket, Gameboy Advanced SP, the already 3 rehauls the DS has had and this bad boy:

There are always updates of systems...I'm glad they do it, to make it more convenient for us. It's quite obvious this is coming just in time for the slew of downloadable games, content, and movies from the PSN store.

Except it's not an update, it's an addition. They're still selling the old one which is going to give people a choice between the two and there's nothing special to make people want the new one.

Well for starters it looks cooler, it'll have 16 gigs of onboard memory and a 3.8 inch screen. It is also 43% lighter than the PSP slim.

So it's screen is bigger and brighter, and it's lighter and more compact, with more memory. That's pretty special right there and makes me want one...no?

Are all these "upgrades" really worth it? Sometime I just don't get these companies sometimes. I lost hope with Nintendo when I purchased a Game Boy Color. Literally, a month later they announced the Game Boy Advance for release. Winded up buying that. By the time I got the Game Boy Advance, they decided to come out with the Game Boy Advance SP with a backlit screen. After that, I said screw it...picked up a PSP and haven't looked back. I hear good stuff with the DS, but I'll be damned if I get sucked in again like I did before.

For those who don't know much about the PSP platform, the PSP Go is the 4th generation version of the handheld. There was the first one, then the PSP Slim 2000 (which was thinner and lighter), and then the PSP 3000 (which had the same features and the Slim but featured a better, brighter screen).

PSP 3000 does not have a better screen, brighter... yes but not better. PSP 3000 has scanlines while the PSP 2000 does not. Lets hope the PSP Go has this issue fixed otherwise I'm happy with my PSP 2001

Gameboy Color was released when I was in 7th grade, I don't remember them ever announcing a follow up, Advanced just came out of the wood work...Which I really wasn't interested in my freshmen year...I did pick up the SP though.

I wonder how comfortable the GO is going to be for people with larger hands... it seems like the pad and buttons are too close to the bottom of the system to easily maneuver...

It's got a smaller screen and I actually like how the other one looks and it's not like it was too heavy anyways. The memory is only necessary since they're going fully digital for it so that doesn't matter. It can't do anything more than the old one so there's no point in having both.

Really not liking the analog stick placement on this. Some of the improvements seem nice, but I'll just stick with the PSP-2000. Maybe the PSP Go2 will have something more up my alley.
