Although I've gotta say that there's a ton of people in the thread for that figure waiting with much anticipation to throw down their $300 on it. It's a strange phenomenon.

It's the addiction of Iron Man... seems they will pay any price for any version of the suit. I'm guessing a lot of the buyers are fairly new to 1/6 and are still in the ridiculous completest mindset that plagues a lot of new collectors.

I find nothing particularly exciting about an all gold suit... if anything it's pretty stupid looking

Although right now the figure's selling for $500-$600 on eBay, so $300's not so bad by comparison.

It's weird. I just don't get the same satisfaction out of figures when they're that expensive. Back when Hot Toys were $150, I'd open one and marvel at its quality, but I don't have that same feeling anymore with the prices today. Now I'll open a figure and I can't believe I paid $220 for it.

Agreed... as amazing as the Battle Damaged T-800 is (the most recent DX release) there is something a bit anti-climactic as there is no way it's really worth the $325 I just paid for it

I've become a lot more choosey in what I purchase and honestly I do find my satisfaction diminishing when it comes to this hobby. Still enjoy my collection but prices are getting ridiculous and the direction the releases are going are clearly designed to appeal to the "flavor of the month" collectors.

Agreed ! I would never ! Especially not for repaint after repaint...

Doing it for a $10 star wars figure and then a $300 HT figure is not the same at all !

I can't quit 1/6th. But I have cut back. No more prequel, and no more Hasbro re-makes (although I know the quality is far superior, I can't justify paying $150+ for a 1/6 figure which I already have)
