re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

Sorry to hear that... the wife and I went back and forth but finally settled on one of our own and maybe adopt later if we feel the need for a 2nd child. But honestly I'm content.

Also, it having met my insurance deductible for the year kind of sped up the decision, so I got clipped at the end of last year :lol

Yikkes!! The snip? :gah: My wife mentioned that to me a couple of times and I didn't even want to entertain the conversation... at least not yet.

Private school isn't cheap that's for sure. There are pluses for sending a kid to private school but if I have kids someday I think I'll stick with the public school system. Unless I end up teaching at a private school and they can just go where I'm at.

Things are a little different here in California. Some districts are excellent while others are, well, not so excellent. As your an educator I can see why you would want to stick to public schools. I just want him to have a little more of that one on one attention that kids get with the smaller class sizes. 25 per class is the limit there.

That's a great decision! :D

Oh, you wanna screw him up good. J/K ;)

:lol I'll make sure he remains a free thinker. I don't want the fear and guilt that the catholic religion creates to be part of who he is. I’m sure he’ll be the only 4 year old there that can sing along with dozens of punk songs. :lol

I love having the one child. :lecture

Man, last night Gabe and I were playing a cup final in Mario Hockey and we won by a goal. Gabe was high fiving me and jumping around and then he hugged my leg (we were both standing) and tells me "Daddy, you are the bestest buddy ever!" Made me want to cry... But yeah, it's really awesome to be so close to him. It makes me wonder if it would be that was if we had a second.

Education is THE worst in AZ, all of the old ****s (retirees and the **** head governor) don't give a **** about funding education. They cut everywhere they can, that's kind of why I want to move to MN the top rated education system within the union! As far as kids go, I have two little boys and couldn't be happier. If money was no object then 4 but realistically 2 is all we can afford. Besides they get cooler **** on their birthdays/Christmas. On the shcool front I'm not religious so private schools are out of the question, I've heard mixed reviews on charter schools but I'll probably send them to public schools. It'll be good for their character.

Walking the streets of The Strand in Galveston drinking a Lone Star Bock. Life is good.

It was no biggie... although the word "sterile" is a bit hard to swallow :lol

Kids are expensive... one of the considerations was what affording 2 would be like. We could do it, but I prefer our quality of life with just the 3 of us.

It definitely makes it easier to take nice vacations each year and to allow me to waste money on my collectibles. :lol

I think its that way all over to be honest. So that I think is one of the issues within education itself. I think there needs to be a more solid plan of what to teach kids and how to teach them It however all starts with when they first enter school having the basics. The later problems start from there. My concern with private schools is that I think some of them don't use their freedom correctly. Most of the time they can kind of teach whatever they want and they get off of the basics too easy to try and teach advanced stuff. Where public schools are limited in that they have to teach certain things, in a certain order, at a certain time. Another issue I have with private schools is I think as a whole they make public ed worse off. These are parents and kids that could help turn around public education but they've elected to not be part of the change. Everyone gripes about the education system in America but nobody wants to be a part of changing.

Sorry for the rant. I could go on more but this is not the place nor do I want to take anymore of a chance of insulting people. I'm just *****ing Flosi.

All I can say is I is based on me and my Dad's own relationship. He's my best friend in the world. He'd be there for me in an instant and I know he cares about me more than anything. I mean he loves coming all the way out to Comic-Con for god's sake and seeing some things he likes bust mostly the stuff I like. I'm sure he does it mostly to just hang out and spend time with me. I have a younger sister and they have their relationship but its never gotten in the way of ours.
