re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

No. It's brilliant. :lecture

I'm 170 right now. Heaviest I've ever been, but I don't know how much of that is fat. Enough that I have a little pudge over my belt when I sit. That ought to change in a few weeks. Lots of yardwork ahead, my brother in law just bought a punching bag, and he's got a weightbench that's been making eyes at me all winter. I eat well, but I could stand to cut a few candy bars from my weekly diet.

re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

I lost about 30 pounds last year, and then decided that was enough, and have stayed at this weight for about a year. But really, I could stand to lose 30 more or so (which would put me at about 175). I just love eating unhealthy food. Exercise doesn't seem to matter much for me one way or the other. It's the diet that makes all the difference.

re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

I'm down a little over 30 this year... Eating is the main thing, but I am running over 20 miles a week too. 52 miles so far this month. :D

How much do you run in one session Flos? I was going for around 40-50 minutes at a go at one point at a fairly brisk pace (probably 3.5-4 miles), but my knee and ankle started giving me trouble, and I started cutting back a bit. Getting old and falling to pieces I guess. Of course, since the new one showed up I hardly have a chance anymore. I love running though.

My wife and I tried walking every other night for a while. I really felt good afterwards but now it's too damn hot. I don't see how people exercise in Florida.

Louisiana may be slightly better :lol I hate it when it starts getting hot though, not because of the heat/humidity, but because of the damned dirty mosquitos.

It really just depends on the day and how much time I have. Four or five miles on a good run day. 3 if I'm squeezing a run in, like I did yesterday at lunch. 2 if I'm just getting my body moving on what should be a rest day (I have a goal to run everyday this month, so there's been a couple of those sprinkled in). Also, when I run with the stroller I only do 2 miles normally, though Sunday I just did my stroller route twice. It's amazing what a difference it makes when you're pushing around a stroller with a 40 pound little boy in it. :lol

Doesn't sound like a "little" boy to me at that point :lol My oldest is around 35 and she's heavy as hell to lug around. Any suggestions on good jogging strollers? I was thinking of picking one up.

No, not really. Mine is crap, but it's good enough... It's a "Jeep" brand, that they sell at Babies R Us. Yeah, Gabriel is a big, solid boy, and there's almost no fat on his little body! Wish I was as lean as him. :lol That's what really pushed me to get back in shape again. I would lug Gabe upstairs after he would fall asleep on the couch and my entire body would hurt as I walked up the stairs. It would also suck getting up and down from the floor, like I was suddenly feeling the extra weight more than ever before.

So did you develop runners knee? A patella brace can help with that. I've been having numbness in some of my toes, I guess it's Morton's neuroma, which my co-worker has had, so bad in fact that he had surgery. Anyway, I switched work shoes, of all things, and that's helped with the running. I've also went to the treadmill a bit more to reduce impact and stay away from all the pollen swirling around, which kills my allergies.

We have the City Mini GT and love it. Light as hell, very maneuverable and great on grass/dirt.

re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

That's a nice one, E. My front tire doesn't even swivel, so I need to apply pressure to one side to compress the shocks and make it turn. :lol A real POS, but it was a shower gift, so no complaints.

re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

My highest was 220 about 2.5 years ago. I'm down to 165-170 depending on the amount of beers consumed over the weekend. :rotfl

I bike 10 miles a day on a stationary bike and we watch what we eat and walk about 20 minutes a night. Longer on the weekends.

re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

A car hit me when I was in college and hurt my knee quite a bit. It seemed to heal, but when I get back into jogging it starts to bug me from time to time. I do have a brace though. I've also got one for my ankle, though it doesn't seem to help much. The ankle is really the bigger problem. If it gets sore and I keep on it, it can get pretty bad to the point where I need to take a week or two off. I should probably see someone about it, but meh. Human bodies just weren't meant to do these things. And I just run on the street, so no rest on my joints. We used to have a treadmill but gave it away due to space. Now that we're in a bigger place it might not be a bad idea to pick another one up. It is so damn BORING running in place though :lol

Thanks for the tip VAS, I'll look into that.

re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

I'm at 210 which is about the heaviest I've ever been. I need to lose some weight but I have to get myself motivated to do so. I do try to walk during the summer. I should get involved in a basketball league or something as that would help. My big issue I think is drinking pop. I can go through a 12 pack in 2-3 days at the most.

I read these posts out of order, and thought you were talking about 35 years old. :lol So yes, I could imagine she'd be heavy to lug around!

re: (galactiboy's Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

For me, I was primarily just counting calories and saturated fat intake (minimizing fats and trying to stay around 1,500 calories or less per day). One can of coke is 140 calories I think? So that adds up. I love coke, but I successfully cut down to just one a day, primarily drinking water the rest of the time, and I think that was a big part of how I lost so much weight. I was losing about 2 pounds per week at one point. I need to get there again, but like I said, I love unhealthy foods so damn much :lol
