So I felt an itch on my leg. I reached down to scratch it and see that that area of my leg is swollen and the skin is hot. I suppose that means its a spider bite? When is a good time to go to a doctor? Should I wait to see if my leg starts turning green and smells like cheese before I worry?

Unless your area is inhabited by the Brown Recluse you're probably okay, unless the inflammation gets worse or is accompanied by other, non-localized discomfort and symptoms.

Keep an eye on it. If it gets a redish circle around it and then starts having red lines going out from it get to a doctor.

Its pretty swollen and red, but Dr.Interwebz says I should be okay with my symptoms so far.

I'm currently working on an excuse that can get me out of work.
