Everyone is always looking for something better. A figure will be announced and there's complaints. A figure will be released and there's complaints. There's absolutely zero sense of community. No one seems to have a sense of humor. I could go on, but I think you guys understand.... Plain a simple, this place just overflows with negativity.

FWIW, the Luke pic was supposed to emote "I care". But I feel ya' Flo. Curious though, how or why are you still a mod? And what's with the hamburger money thing about Dave? I'm out of the loop.

I'm saving my $25 for Ben and Rick at next Celebration. Dave can buy his own ****ing cheeseburgers.

Ten years ago today joined Sideshow Freaks. Lots of good memories and friendships made. Here's to you, Freaks :duff

10 years on the board... damn. I guess I'm just a few months behind you :lol

Lot of fun times over they years, some dark ones but in general fun. Anymore I just skim the general section for oddball figures, check the Cantina and for new SW figures and look out for deals in the commerce section. Aside from that my usage here is pretty much nil.

Amazing how much work went into such a short sequence in the film.

That's awesome... I know I've seen it before, but still cool to watch. And I love how he has a set of dials for turning the image; how does that even work :huh. It's like people using computers to fly to the moon... just no idea how the technology of the time was able to achieve such greatness. And all I do with it is buy toys :lol

This site.... I kinda hate it now. I've met some great people here who are dear friends, but the collecting aspect, which is what brought me here, now sickens me.

Just the air of entitlement, even from people I've known for years here.... It's just too much.

Sorry it's hit that point for you, Flosi. I know what you mean, though. It’s gotten very aggressive around here and it sometimes even sucks in the best of us where they are not acting like their usual, level-headed selves. And if you think the figure threads are bad, don’t even look through a movie thread!

I joined this forum just about 8 years ago now, and I found it very friendly and congenial. There were one or two more “angry” members but it was easy to steer clear from them. Now it feels like every page ends up devolving into an argument about either how good vs how bad a figure is, or why naysayers feel it’s their moral imperative to counter any positive comments that are posted.

But we endure. I forked over my burger money to Dave because despite all the aggression, there are still many here that I enjoy interacting with, reading their posts or seeing their photos. This is really the only forum that I visit with any real frequency and actually post in. But I have been keeping my head down, and haven’t been posting as often (I’ve also gotten busy with work). And ultimately I am planning my exit strategy from the hobby. Just a few more figures that I need to tick off my list and then I can semi-retire. I’m sure there will still be a few figures here and there that I will want and get, but for the most part, I am very close to feeling content with my collection. Plus with the ever-skyrocketing prices, I don’t think I can really justify it to myself much longer!

This is the only place I really "talk" I don't go to ANY figure threads at all.
But you guys know this.

Yeah. I'm done talking Star Wars in the movie threads. Too many clueless idiots.

It's crazy that they had data pads back then. In fact I was just watching ESB the other day and at the end when the Falcon jumps to lightspeed and Vader storms off he walks right by an Imperial Officer who is using a tablet with stylus! What??? For a movie that came out when we had Apple II computers and Atari 2600's at home it's kind of mind blowing that they were even able to conceive of that.

don’t even look through a movie thread! Now it feels like every page ends up devolving into an argument about either how good vs how bad a figure is, or why naysayers feel it’s their moral imperative to counter any positive comments that are posted.

Yes, this. I guaran-damn-tee you, go to the TFA thread right now (or better yet, don't) and make a post about ANYTHING you like about the movie. Whatever it is, you're guaranteed to get up to half a dozen immediate responses that say, "really? I actually thought that was one of the sucky things about the movie," or "yeah well that part you mentioned still wasn't as good as such and such from the OT" or any number of "clever" mocking gifs. Without fail. ****ing morons who just don't know how to have a respectful conversation about films.

I've moved over to hometheaterforum.com for grownup conversations about motion pictures, including Star Wars. What goes on here is called "threadcrapping" and it just isn't tolerated over there. If you hate something or are disappointed, sure, you get to say it, even have long discussions about the reasons why. But the minute you start bashing other people's points of view and just start trying to tear down everyone else's enthusiasm your **** gets deleted. So I no longer post or even lurk in any of the movie threads here about films I really care about (Star Wars, LOTR/Hobbit, Captain America, etc.) I just stick to the second tier movies that I'm not very invested in (like Batman v Superman, Deadpool or whatever.)

I'm glad that this thread with you fine people still exists here.

I get the vibe here. It's weird. For the most part a lot of the newer members came in "trying to make a name for themselves" by being aggressive in posts and trying to be overly combative or trying to flex their knowledge. Things didn't go in general conversations but in name-calling and baiting to try and get the other person to stoop to the lowest levels. I've even read threads where things got personal, including kids and other family members in the name calling and trolling. The thing is, I don't feel like Dave is that much in it anymore. I feel like he kind of just lets this place go as is. It's a long difference from almost 10 years ago when I first joined and definitely a difference in clientele we get here. The pendulum has swung too far to one side and the opposite to get back to center would be seriously and heavy-duty modding and I don't that the mods have enough time or have enough eyes or the simple fact that there aren't enough of them but also there is a lack of direction from the owner.

Agreed 100%. Haven't laughed at SNL in years and I thought this was great.

Anyone else seriously tempted to buy the 8-inch scale TFA TIE Fighter? I have a chance to get a damaged box one for just over $100 and it's killing me.

You mean 6" scale right?
I have it. It's big and awesome. For $100 you should get it.

I get the crazy eye death stare about a great many things. Not least of all is the new tattoo. But he gets over it very quickly, as it's amazing what undying love can do! I'm so blessed. Now, however, I would never let him hear the lyrics to this Ghost album I'm listening to right now. That's definitely just for me...
