Everyone is always looking for something better. A figure will be announced and there's complaints. A figure will be released and there's complaints. There's absolutely zero sense of community. No one seems to have a sense of humor. I could go on, but I think you guys understand.... Plain a simple, this place just overflows with negativity.
I haven't been here as long as you, so I guess it hasn't reached critical mass for me yet. Combing back through old threads, I see there are certain cycles surrounding a figure release that rinse and repeat, beat-for-beat, year after year.
I don't know...part of geeking out over stuff is nitpicking, and I do it with the best (worst?) of them. But I think it can go overboard (So much derision for HT Han...I don't know. Slightly off but also THE BEST HAN SOLO TOY EVER MADE EVER) ... and when it gets less business-like and more personal (e.g. "Sideblow") I think it crosses a line.
If someone likes something I don't, I'm not going to attack them personally over it. I also reverse my opinions on things when more information comes to light and I have to. I was initially disappointed by the production version of SSC pilot Luke, and while I still think it has legitimate issues, I now own it and it's one of my favourites. I have no problem admitting I judged it too harshly at first.
Overall I think this site's negativity issues come from 1. People spending a fair amount of money = sense of entitlement, 2. Perceived anonymity of the Web, 3. Poor social skills.
That said, I've learned some cool stuff, had some great laughs, and met some cool people. I try not to take it all too seriously.
