So...TFA has been on my mind lately. I saw it twice in theatres and loved it both times.

I found myself unable to sit through a third viewing at home with my full attention.

I actually think it's the death of Han Solo, Leia and Han's crappy marriage and the mass destruction of Republic planets that I find sinking in.

Logistically, there was no easy way to carry the story forward what with aging actors and all; but the longer I sit with the film, the more cynical it feels.

I haven't turned into an ST hater; what they got right they absolutely nailed; but maybe what I'm seeing is that indeed, this isn't my Star Wars and the myth moves on for future generations of movie-goers, which is fine.

I knew going in there will never be another OT for all the obvious reasons, but my waning enthusiasm for the ST's first instalment surprises me.

I know I exactly how you feel. Personally, I don't think there will ever be anything like the OT again. At least in my lifetime. To think TFA was going to be is simply naive. It's a good movie and I really enjoyed it.

I found some of the similarities to SW a little too similar, but I understand why they did that. The Falcon chase scene was simply awesome and wonderfully done.

A lot of people have wanted Lucas to let someone else play in his sandbox and now he is. That means we have to take the good with the bad. That being said, I wish he would've opened it up to directors with a vision, not some huge corporation whose end goal is to appease shareholders.

I agree. OT will always be nr. 1 with a huge margin.

We had our second ultrasound today. Everything looks good....and it's a girl! :yes

(the doctor said it was hard to see, had to try 4 times but she was as sure as she could be).

Boussh and Lando next up from Mondo.

I just got my Red Five print and it looks great but I decided to get rid of it since it does not really fit into my collection and I missed out on Bossk and Tarkin.

Agreed.

From a narrative standpoint, the continuity they've created is depressing; all those brave rebels, all those Bothan spies - :rotfl - died for what, exactly?

In the first chapter of this new Star Wars billions die in a holocaust to rival Alderaan's destruction.

Han and Leia were not only denied a happy ending, they raised a patricidal mass murdering lunatic.

There is a darkness there that doesn't sit well with me. These elements of darkness were always present in the OT, but the whole point of that story arc was overcoming it, not having it drag on and raise it's ugly head in 30 years. Hence my remark about it seeming cynical.

I get that it's called Star Wars and I get that they had to move the narrative somehow, but now that the excitement has died down I find myself questioning the whole thing.

Don't hate it by any means, just find myself a little disenchanted.

I agree about the cynical part.

While I realise that the Empire would not have dissappeared over night I would have prefered a more established Republic and that the Jedi would be established as a Force in the galaxy again. And not another planet destroying weapon.

Oooh me likey that Boushh!!! I caved last night and ordered a GG Jumbo Boussh really cheap. She was always one of my fave vintage figures and once I saw it in Disney, I wanted it. Definitely one of the nicer ones that they've put out so far.

I have Red Five, passed on Bossk and Tarkin but was very tempted by 3po. I decided that I'd like to just have Luke, Leia and Vader... It would make for a "photos of the family" kinda feel.

I just have C-3PO so far.

I played the Resident Evil 7 demo. I'm not sure I like the direction they're taking it from what I saw, but I hope they prove me wrong.
