Re: (FLOSI'S Cantina) aka Where the "cool guys" of the Star Wars forum hangout...

:panic: :panic: :panic: I must say, I'm a little excited to see what's in your box, Batty.

I can only imagine the responses to this post. :lol

Re: (FLOSI'S Cantina) aka Where the "cool guys" of the Star Wars forum hangout...

I've never been so excited to see what's in his box. I understand why you have these feelings.

Re: (FLOSI'S Cantina) aka Where the "cool guys" of the Star Wars forum hangout...

Honestly, that one is just too easy. So I'm gonna pass on it :lol

Re: (FLOSI'S Cantina) aka Where the "cool guys" of the Star Wars forum hangout...

As a kid I lived and breathed the sketches that were in the blue covered ESB sketchbook. Would that have been all Joe Johnston art or was McQuarrie in that as well? I'll have to track down a copy on ebay one of these days.

Re: (FLOSI'S Cantina) The COOL guy(s) of the Star Wars forum thread...

Malenko was the "Man of 1000 holds", which made Chris Jericho decide to call himself the "Man of 1001 holds"...
It's 1004, newb.

Yeah, what happened here?

invaded this thread and improved, er, derailed it by talking about pro 'rasslin.

This is one of my favorite McQuarrie paintings. All of his work is fantastic. I have a signed ESB portfolio that I think I ordered from Starlog magazine back in the early 80s.

I have seen this guy's work here or there, and really dig his style. Too bad his doesn't do paintings of Tiger Mask vs. Dynamite Kid :(

No McQuarrie in the sketchbooks... but still full of awesomeness.

The art books have tons of pics.

These are cool too.

And of course there are these. The Star Wars one has the deleted scene with Biggs in it that some people think they saw in the original release of the movie.

Yeah those rock. I've got the Jedi one. Its got that pic of Luke hanging from the grate at the top of the Rancor pit. I was bummed that it wasn't included in the deleted OT scenes on the blu-rays.

I gots lots o' stuff, that's why. :lol

One of my favorite things is this McQuarrie ESB press kit dealie. I bought this from the fan club before Empire hit the theaters. I had a pretty good colletor's mind for a kid. :lol

It comes in a black 11" x 24" cardboard box with Vader silk screened in black on the front. I had to lighten it so you could actually see him.

Inside that is a glossy envelope with a metal medallion seal.

Inside that is another envelope embossed with the Vader image.

Which opens up to hold two McQuarrie prints.

Re: (FLOSI'S Cantina) aka Where the "cool guys" of the Star Wars forum hangout...

Awesome stuff, Batty. That box is full of win!

Re: (FLOSI'S Cantina) aka Where the "cool guys" of the Star Wars forum hangout...

My sister worked at a movie theater in 1997 and convinced her manager to smuggle out two 35 mm film reels of the ROTJ:SE trailer for me (one anamorphic and one scope). I thought I had the ultimate SW collectible; actual film played in an actual theater. Especially of ROTJ which apparently would have new badass footage of sweet looking CG band members in Jabba's palace. :lol :duh

Re: (FLOSI'S Cantina) aka Where the "cool guys" of the Star Wars forum hangout...

Y'know, back when that special edition foolishness first happened and I saw it in the theaters, none of it seemed like that bad of an idea, and it didn't bother me very much. I was just glad to be able to watch Star Wars in the theaters. I guess I just got nerdier and more ornery as the years have passed.

Re: (FLOSI'S Cantina) aka Where the "cool guys" of the Star Wars forum hangout...

Batty that box is awesome, thank you for sharing. I love the ART OF books, AND I need me those SW & Empire sketchbooks. I recently picked up the Jedi version for 5 bucks MINT. Let me know if you ever want to sell your stuff, it looks like it's in immaculate shape. :naughty

I was 18 and dumb. Everything is cool when you're 18. :lol

Re: (FLOSI'S Cantina) aka Where the "cool guys" of the Star Wars forum hangout...

And I altered the title of the thread to more accurately describe what was going here. I think it's a success!

Re: (FLOSI'S Cantina) aka Where the "cool guys" of the Star Wars forum hangout...

I was pretty excited about the special edition back then, but I was 12.

I made sure to take care of all of my things when I was a kid. I really was weird back then. Actually, I still am. :lol

And I've had some of this stuff for almost 35 years... I doubt I'll be getting rid of any of it anytime soon. With all the thousands and thousands of dollars I've spent over years and years of collecting, it's what I collected back in the 70s and 80s that means the most to me.

I still haven't opened "the box" yet.

Re: (FLOSI'S Cantina) aka Where the "cool guys" of the Star Wars forum hangout...

Again, I thank you for sharing such cool sheet. More pics are always welcome. On a different note I thought I'd share this guys complete recreation of the LEGO Venator model that was on display at Celebration III. This thing is just awesome. Cool song too.
