maybe we can put it in other terms. when two children are playing and one starts hitting the other, do we reprimand the child hitting or the child being hit? so we post as not to upset certain forum members? this is getting very complicated and excuse me for being confused about the whole thing. can you just post a list of members we should brown nose and get it over with? maybe i can make a contribution to DD....you know...to keep things fair?

I'm not excusing the behaviour of some members. I am saying that how you respond is your choice. You're choosing to be a victim, and then asking that people acknowledge your being affronted by behaviour that they themselves manage well enough to ignore.

maybe this is where the confusion stems from. you see, i was banned twice for doing less than they did. i now understand that some people are not treated the same as others here. guess i'll have to learn to live with it if i want to post here. moral of the story...life isn't fair. :lecture

You keep saying that, but what did you do? In general, there is a lot of day-to-day strife around here, and bannings are rare. People run their mouths, make jokes at the expense of others, and openly mock what they deem worthy.

I can say that losing your **** when someone makes a crack will get you in much more trouble than the person who provoked you. Is this what you consider to be unfair?

The forum has a level of etiquette-- but it's a toy forum, and you reap what you sow.

True story...

There once was a shepherd boy who was bored as he sat on the hillside watching the village sheep. To amuse himself he took a great breath and sang out, "Wolf! Wolf! The Wolf is chasing the sheep!"

The villagers came running up the hill to help the boy drive the wolf away. But when they arrived at the top of the hill, they found no wolf. The boy laughed at the sight of their angry faces.

"Don't cry 'wolf', shepherd boy," said the villagers, "when there's no wolf!" They went grumbling back down the hill.

Later, the boy sang out again, "Wolf! Wolf! The wolf is chasing the sheep!" To his naughty delight, he watched the villagers run up the hill to help him drive the wolf away.

When the villagers saw no wolf they sternly said, "Save your frightened song for when there is really something wrong! Don't cry 'wolf' when there is NO wolf!"

But the boy just grinned and watched them go grumbling down the hill once more.

Later, he saw a REAL wolf prowling about his flock. Alarmed, he leaped to his feet and sang out as loudly as he could, "Wolf! Wolf!"

But the villagers thought he was trying to fool them again, and so they didn't come.

At sunset, everyone wondered why the shepherd boy hadn't returned to the village with their sheep. They went up the hill to find the boy. They found him weeping.

"There really was a wolf here! The flock has scattered! I cried out, "Wolf!" Why didn't you come?"

An old man tried to comfort the boy as they walked back to the village.

"We'll help you look for the lost sheep in the morning," he said, putting his arm around the youth, "Nobody believes a liar...even when he is telling the truth!"

About netiquette, would like to quote from an article I read about Marion Bartoli after she won the Wimbledon.

"The threshold that demarcates what's permissible to say and what's not is being obliterated more and more in today's world. There's no system of checks and balances in the virtual space. Young people grow up thinking if they can behave in an obnoxious way on a social platform and get away with it, they can also do it in the real world. The fact that one finds more people on the social media, who are willing to be as crude or more, only emboldens their resolve to take more liberties with what they consider their 'freedom of speech'."

Are we sexist, louts or both?

At the end of the day, I'm sure we all have much more pressing concerns than being polite on a forum where grown men collect toys.

i was banned for negative comments and what was considered bashing, i guess. i don't see any difference but really, what IS the difference. it's established some are treated differently than others. i suggest getting over it. that's what i'm doing. :lecture

except you're not allowed to walk around that way according to the restraining order. :panic:
