That sucks ass. It doesn't make any sense, if anything it helps to destroy the communities that build up around these franchises and keep them alive long after the Hollywood Hype machine on them shuts down. All they do in the end is hurt themselves.

i think you guys are forgetting FOX has a long history of chicanery and foul play.
even now, they're fighting tooth-and-nail to keep WB from releasing Watchmen.
FOX had the Watchmen license back in the 80s and never bothered to make it. and now it's tough cookies that WB made an awesome movie.

It is already a well-known fact, but by doing this they have only proved once again that they do indeed suck... like a black f'n hole. What a bunch of greedy, short-sighted morons.
:emperor :emperor :emperor

So let me play devil's advocate for a second. Did it ever occur to you guys that they paid money for the copyright/trademark for a reason? They paid millions of dollars to produce these movies. I think they have a right to say where, when and how material from them is used. Using this stuff with tags like "free publicity" doesn't change the fact that the source material was used illegally. I think this is a growing problem in our world today. People are less and less respecting other peoples rights and property then turn around and get furious when legal actions are taken calling them greedy. Who's greedy? The person who wants to control what they paid for? Or the person who wants something someone else paid for, a LOT of money for, for free? Think about it for a second.

Now, with that out of the way :lol, SOLIDSNAKE, I'm sorry to hear that they took your vids down. Personally, I'd be a little relieved that taking them down was all that happened vs. filing suit against you for trademark/copyright infringement. Those carry fines in the thousands and even, in some cases, federal jail time. Might not hurt to send a written request to use the properties in the future. We've done it for the magazine and more often than not, we get responses.

They're only being bastards over that one to get WB to finally allow them to release the 60's Batman series on DVD as they wont sell it to WB and WB wont give them permission due to their ownership of the characters.

Sorry to hear it man!! What a bunch of douches!!

Sorry I never watched any of your videos before, but what are they?? At work so I can't get on youtube and check them out before they are gone.

i can live with that. that show was almost as bad as Batman and Robin. they can keep it.
i've waited long enough for a Watchmen movie.

federal jail time for buying thousands of dollars on legally bought dvd's and there marchandise.
COME ON MAN !!

IS BULL^^^^ !!! they are not smart at all. The fans make them there money and if they keep this up they will lose it all.

I understand copy right laws but at the end of evry video I pay my respects to the rightfull owners.

If I was using bootleg material for my videos or making money selling bootleg material BE MY GUEST !!! ARREST ME but what I am doing right now is harmless.

No, federal time by infringing upon their rights as the trademark and copyright owners of the material you used without their consent. You may view it as "paying respects" but it doesn't change the fact that you didn't get permission from the owners to use their property. As well, it being "harmless" is your perspective. Obviously they thought otherwise. And since it is theirs, they have that right, don't they?

Additionally, there's that small copyright clause at the end of all those flicks, "any use of the material contained herein...."

There's plenty of people out there that do want it, bootleg DVD sets go for quite a bit of money and at the moment anything to do with Batman is like a license to print money. Who'd have thought it was so easy to milk a bat :lol

Yup, the bootlegs fetch about $75 for the series thinkpack at conventions.

I still thinks is retarded and if they keep it up they will lose it all.
FANS have made them what they are.

It makes no sense and I think is stupid of them to do it.

Remember this !!

THE COSTUMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT.

If was a FOX C.E.O I would be so honored of the fans making amateur films.
For example : look at lucas films.

MR GEORGE LUCAS welcomes fan films all the time and he dosent go ape ^^^^ after evryone.

SO STUPID !!!

I did want to say something about Lucas, but I wasn't sure about the best way as I'm not sure how it applies to the films themselves. But he certanly welcomes fans to play in the Star Wars Sand Box as long as it's for non profit.

FOX made his life hell while he was trying to make A New Hope. he's probably happy to have complete control over that stuff now.
and not being as hard-nosed with his franchise as FOX tends to be certainly hasn't hurt his bottom line.

I see you drank the Kool-Aid.

To everyone else, check out https://www.chillingeffects.org/ for more on how this sort of copyright-holder idiocy plays out in the real world.

Not having seen the videos (since they've been taken down) I can't say for sure, but it's possible a case for fair use could be made. Not that the copyright holders usually care about that, or, more specifically, the low-paid bureaucratic monkeys they hire to send out DMCA takedown notices. In any case, the logical criteria, which is "is this use of our content going to cost us sales and/or money?" is seldom applied.

This isn't usually about what's right, or what's legal, but who has the most money. At least not all copyright holders are as dumb as Fox often proves to be....

As a business owner I really hate that statement. It should be reserved for people who purchase the product and the product is defective IOW legitimate customers. It should not be used as an excuse for wrong/criminal behavior. The customer isn't right when they start taking advantage of the company. I have no problem making sure my customer is happy, but when they become thieves and/or cons, that's a different story entirely. Having purchased the product does not give them licensing rights to the property. At that point, they cease being customers and become criminals.,

Someone becomes a criminal when they are found guilty in court, not when someone makes an unproven accusation.

I work real hard to give me and my family a great life.

If I was making money from fox material then yes take the videos down but in this case they have no right to take harmless material.
