That's ridiculous. No way is it worth that much just yet. Maybe in time, but $800, ~5X retail?!?
I agree. But, being as there were only 50 of these available, there's probably someone out there who will pay this price. I didn't get one of these, but I'm going to hold out and see what some of these go for in the future; I really want one of these in my collection, but I'm not going to pay $800!

If this were a life sized bust, or an uber-rare Marvel piece, then I could see that price tag, but it isn't either of those things. I would never pay that much for it. (Now just watch me eat my words down the road :lol)

Edit: I'm pretty sure that's a board member too.

Yeah, that guy is always preflipping/scalping every SS item that comes out.

Didn't bagels get one, and Monster won it?

That's correct. Wasn't interested in flipping this piece, wanted it to be fair and go to somebody who really wanted it for retail.

tenstarsfalling is my ebay name anyway ;)

#41 just arrived but I didn't have time to open and inspect it before work...

I just had some idiot, I'm guessing an unnamed member of this forum, email me asking if I thought he could get more on ebaY by parting it out vs. selling it whole. I replied asking him his username for the freaks board (since I'm assuming that's how he got my email) hoping he'll be dumb enough to tell me. Some people just have no morals whatsoever.

How the frick would you possibly part it out? What parts are anyone going to even want?

I think that's what he's hoping, to maximize value. Nobody would want a single piece of it, but would bid like crazy for all the pieces to get it complete as some people generally don't calculate an "overall" price of multiple auctions when you're bidding on a single item. Case in point, a 1:6 SSC Bespin Han belt/blaster went for $75 a couple weeks ago while the complete figure is still available at many retailers for considerably less than that SHIPPED!:google It really is a mean thing to do to collectors. Clever, but nevertheless, mean.

If he's dumb enough to respond with his username, I'll pass it along here so you guys can prep the horses for a nice game of draw and quarter.

The $799 has been up for twelve hours now, fifty views, and I'm still the only offer. No response yet on the offer either. It will be interesting to see what this one goes for. I'm still hoping to pick this one up, as it's in California, so has not been shipped all over the place.

Oh well, trying to be patient.

Definitely don't pay anywhere near $800 for this. I think patience is the key. Look at the faux bronze SW pieces. People were expecting those to be the next grails. Now you can pretty much get them at list price.

Good luck to all of you who wants one.

I guess grail is a personal preference. Personally I was never interested in the faux bronze Star Wars pieces to begin with. However, I have made a commitment to collect the SSE Dioramas. The scalper situation just sucks.

Thanks for the encouragement!

What was your offer? Hopefully not more than $400. I think this piece is living off of hype at the moment and will settle down.

There are only 50 SW FB pieces as well and those sold considerable higher at intial release and now can hardly be given away. I realize Universal Horror >> SW, but still this piece is over-hyped at the moment.

Pretty much how I sumed it up in Fury's WTB thread. I wouldn't pay more than $50 above retail for it.

I think people are just getting tired of these lame paint/color variants in general.

dont think the SSE UniMonsters line is anywhere near comparable to the bronze editions of the other lines. These have a legit reason for the paint and an established following for years ... :monkey1

Yeah, I definitely agree. There's no real reason for faux bronze SW or LOTR pieces (even thought they do appeal to people). But Uni Monsters in b&w makes perfect sense.
